1962 AC GREYHOUND BRISTOL
Registration no. 240 YPJ
Chassis no. BEF2566
*Restored by specialist 20 years ago and re-painted this year

*Bristol engine rebuilt
*Extensive history

Odometer Reading: 61,000
MOT Expiry: 21/08/2020

While the pre-Cobra AC Ace remains overshadowed by its more powerful successor, another AC – one from the same period with true grand touring capabilities – also brought together two great British car-making names in one attractive package. Step forward the AC Greyhound, whose manufacturer looked to Bristol to supply engines. The result was a rapid, well-engineered not to say good-looking offering. Restored around 20 years ago by noted Bristol specialist Spencer Lane-Jones (over 570 hours!), this UK-supplied Greyhound has a comprehensive history and has received much attention more recently. It is fitted with the Bristol 2.2-litre inline six, the engine which experts say best suits the Greyhound's character, and is coupled to a Bristol (overdrive) gearbox. Following on from the restoration, more recently (2019) it has been re-painted in Aston Martin Dunhill Silver, a shade that complements the body's lines, while the lack of bumpers lends a more purposeful air and evoking images of when these models were used in rallies. Ideally suiting the silver bodywork is a red interior, which is in wonderfully, lightly patinated order with no signs of modification, and remains eminently usable. At the wooden dashboard is especially appealing with its full complement of instruments, below which sits a period radio. At the heart of any Greyhound is the engine, and this car was re-built to almost 100S specification (which translates into around 125bhp) and is said to be very good. Running gear too is in good order, other than the brakes which could benefit from some attention. Adding to this car's appeal is its immense history, which runs to two box files and includes the original 1960 buff logbook, as well as photographs and notes taken during the restoration work.

FEATURED AUCTION

ANGLIA CAR AUCTIONS
Classic Car Sale
The Cattlemarket, Beveridge Way, King's Lynn PE30 4NB
SATURDAY 13TH APRIL 2019

1979 ASTON MARTIN VOLANTE V8
Estimate: £130,000 - 150,000
Chassis number: V8C0R15088

In Tourmaline blue with Magnolia hide, this V8 Volante was supplied new by Marshall of Cambridge. Owned by the previous keeper for thirty‑three years from 1985, who took the car to France with him on his retirement in the early 2000s where it resided until acquired by the vendor in 2018. It had very little use whilst in France and although it was never registered there, was issued with an age-related plate in the UK in 2019. Subject to recent recommissioning, it benefits from new Michelin XWX tyres, engine service, brakes inspection and new pads fitted, gearbox oil/filters, new heater control valve, water hoses and stainless steel exhaust. Converted to unleaded specification by Oselli in 1999, a supporting invoice is retained in the file. It also comes with the original warranty specification, service book containing six stamps from 1980 to 1986, bill of sale dated 1985, Heritage certificate, invoices dating from 1985 to 2000 and then 2018 and 2019 and MoTs from 1984 until 2000. The vendor is warranting the mileage of 59,253.

1975 JENSEN GT SHOOTING BRAKE
Registration No: DSC 543P
Chassis No: 30055
Engine No: A741210481

Rare original UK supplied RHD Jensen GT Shooting brake, 2.0 lotus engine – one of only 234 made and one of four made in Jensen Silver. Recent ground up restoration – receipts for £000’s – bare metal respray, full stainless steel (including manifold) specialist performance exhaust, full interior and engine overhaul, refurbed original alloys, rare black corduroy and ambla interior, MOT to Aug 2019.
Auctioneers note: This beautiful car has recently had, we are told, a total restoration.  The service file, which is full of invoices for the work carried out, amounts in money to thousands of pounds, including one invoice for the re-painting of the car for £3,120.  In its files, there is a nine-page review which looks at the Jensen GT, written by the well-known and respected author Richard Calver.  It makes fascinating reading and it is worth pointing out that originally they were thinking of putting a Vauxhall engine into this car, but they could not get enough power into it, so they ended up putting in the Lotus 2 lit engine they used in the Jensen Healey.  These engines produce 144 BHP giving a 0 – 60 in 8.7 sec.  As mentioned before they are only 218 RHD cars made in a total production run from October ’75 – May ’76 when Jensen’s went into liquidation.  She comes with an MOT expiring on 13.8.19, also handy to have is the original Owners Handbook and Service Book (no stamps) and a copy of “Auto Car” dated 10.1.76 when they fully road tested the GT.  She has an old V5 and I can only say she is a cracking car. May be viewed, by appointment.
