1931 SCOTT LIGHT SQUIRREL
FROM THE HITCHCOCK'S MOTORCYCLE MUSEUM

The Scott Flying Squirrel was a British motorcycle made by The Scott Motorcycle Company between 1926 and the outbreak of World War II.

The Squirrel name was used for Scott motorcycles since 1921 but with the death of the founder Alfred Angas Scott in 1923 the unorthodox Scott two-stroke motorcycles began to become more conventional. Development of the three speed Scott Flying Squirrel began in 1922 as the company was in severe debt and faced receivership. Launched at the 1926 Earls Court motorcycle show, the Flying Squirrel was expensive – nearly twice the cost of a sporting four-stroke motorcycle of the time.
This 1931 Light Squirrel with its 298cc two stroke motor was acquired by Don Hitchcock for the collection 1978, a buff logbook with the bike states the date of manufacture as the 1st Jan ’31. For restoration the bike is offered ‘as is’ and is supplied with a UK V5C logbook bearing the registration number FL 8340.

RACE RETRO COMPETITION CAR SALE
24th FEBRUARY 2017
STONELEIGH PARK, WARWICKSHIRE

1968 ROVER 2000 TC

Registration: WPF 464G
Chassis Number: 40054297B
Engine Number: 40070179J
Number of cylinders: Four
CC: 1978cc
Year of Manufacture: 1968
No Reserve

This 1968 Rover 2000TC was bought in 1993 by classic car journalist, Mark Dixon, as a low mileage, low ownership and solid car that was an ideal basis to convert for endurance historic road-rallying.
Holbay Engineering was tasked with gas-flowing the cylinder head and inlet manifold in a quest for more power and they also modified the cam profile and fitted a tubular exhaust manifold for improved torque lower down the rev-range. Additionally, a long-range fuel system and uprated springs and competition shock absorbers helped the handling, whilst a Safety Devices roll cage and sump guard provided additional protection.
The car took part in the punishing 1993 Classic Marathon to Morocco finishing a creditable 8th overall, and the 1997 Liege-Istanbul-Liege where it was rewarded with 7th. place overall.
It was then sold to Jan Pearce in 1999 and subsequently competed in the 2002 "Trial to the Nile" and the 2005 Classic Marathon to Croatia, as well as the 2006 Tatry Marathon to Slovakia. Sadly, Jan passed away in 2014, and the car has remained unused until November 2016 when the decision was made to recommission this classic 2000TC and prepare it for competition use once again.  The brakes received attention including rebuilding the rear brake calipers and the whole car was carefully inspected before being offered for a fresh MOT. The fact that the work involved only amounted to a modest £700 pays testament to the sound condition of this rally-proven Rover.

Subsequently said to drive extremely well by a noted current motoring journalist, it would need minimal work and perhaps a little cosmetic tidying before tackling another long-distance road rally, making it a very good value proposition and a great route into International Historic Road Rallying

 SATURDAY 4th MARCH 2017
BROOKLANDS MOTOR MUSEUM, WEYBRIDGE, SURREY

1972 BMW 2002 E10 Tii EVOCATION

BMW's director of product planning, Helmut Werner Bönsch and Alex von Falkenhausen, the designer of the BMW M10 engine, had both been owners of a 1600-2 (1602) and, subsequently, had both installed a two litre engine in their respective cars. Following the realisation that they had both made the same modification, they prepared a joint proposal to BMW's board to manufacture a similar version of the 1602. At the same time, American importer Max Hoffman was asking BMW for a sporting version of the 02 series that could be sold in the United States.  The 1990cc engine was made available in 1968 in two states of tune: the base single-carburettor 2002, producing 100bhp as in the 2000 and 2000C and the dual-carburettor, high compression 2002Ti, producing 120bhp as in the 2000Ti and 2000CS. In that same year BMW introduced its first fuel injected model, the 20002 Tii it differed from the carbureted Ti in using Kuglefisher mechanical injection instead of twin carbs , pushing the power further to 130BHP.

Having been subject of a recent comprehensive restoration, this desirable and very pretty 1972 early 'Round Light' E10 has been upgraded as a Tii Evocation, including the desirable bhp boosting,Tii 'Kuglefisher' fuel injection system coupled to a 1995cc M10 engine and a four-speed manual gearbox. Offered in white with re-trimmed black interior this 2002 has renewed 1970's ATS 13" alloy wheels on all new Firestone tyres,  new anodised body trim, period chrome Marchal driving lamps and a stainless steel exhaust. having numerous new panels during restoration the underside and inner panels of the car have also been Dinatrol Wax treated. There is a file of invoices from BMW E10 specialists, Jaymic, including restoration photos in the documents folder. Registered as an historic vehicle and with only four former keepers in the logbook, an MoT test certificate until  February 2018, a detailed engine bay coupled with excellent bodywork, this uber cool 70s BMW is sure to be a favourite with viewing highly recommended.
