A rare sight on our roads nowadays, the replacement for the quirky 75 was built under Fiat’s ownership and heralded a new dawn and direction for Alfa. Rear drive was ditched in favour of a front-wheel drive layout with gains in packaging and cost saving on production.

Built between 1992 and 1998, the 155 came with various engine options, many preferring the 2.0 twin spark as we have here over the 2.5-litre V6. For one year only, in 1995, Alfa offered the ‘wide body’ with flared arches and a wider track with revised steering geometry along with an improvement in quality of the fit and finish.

Finished in classic Alfa red this 155 widebody was supplied new by Evans Halshaw of Gloucester in June 1995. This gem has had just three owners and been in the capable hands of its retired motor engineer for the last few years. He purchased the car out of long-term storage from former Alfa Romeo club chair who owned the car initially through his business before transferring to himself (first and second owner). It has had a recent timing belt fuel pump and water pump change including variator, refurbished brakes and calipers and a host of other little jobs.

The spec includes a rear blind, electric windows, figure hugging sporty seats and original alloy wheels. There are a host of spare parts including a new exhaust system, spare alloy wheel, another set of belts, discs and other bits. The history file includes the V5C, owner’s pack and service booklet showing an impressive 17 stamps up to 90,345 miles in 2001 (currently reading 120,000 miles), invoices for service items, all keys including the important red master key and a current MOT until June 2020 recording just two minor advisories.

2004 ALFA ROMEO GTV 2-Litre TWIN SPARK

This Alfa Romeo Romeo GTV is a very late phase 2 which has the colour matched sills and bumpers and the improved interior layout.

This particular car is the 150 bhp 2.0 litre Twin Spark version with 5 speed manual gearbox.

The car is finished in Grigio Chiaro VC ( Metallic Silver) with full Caramel leather interior with the seats being embossed with the Alfa Romeo logo, the carpets are in a matching caramel shade. 

Equipment includes, air conditioning, 17" teledial Alfa Romeo alloys,  radio cd with bluetooth and sim reader, and reversing sensors.

There is a folder of history containing old MOT's, and a VOSA check back to August 2007 . Also included in the file are many receipts for both service work and general maintenance, including a new cambelt and waterpump at 76,456 miles on the 10.01/2015. An engine service has just been done at 79,446 miles on 23/01/2017 

There are three keys with the all important master key being present, the handbook etc are supplied in the original Alfa Romeo wallet.

With striking Pininfarina styling and the glorious Alfa Romeo soundtrack make for a modern classic Alfa.

1978 ALFA ROMEO ALFASUD

 

The Alfa Sud, an "all new" model for Alfa Romeo, was launched in 1972. The Alfasud came only as a four door saloon, however there was a choice of engines which included 1186cc, 1286cc (1977 onwards), 1350cc and 1490cc (from 1978).
The Alfasud developed quite a loyal following and had excellent handling characteristics. Between 1971-1983 over 500,000 Alfasud's were produced, the model was eventually replaced by the Alfa Romeo 33.
It was considered one of Alfa Romeo's most successful models and soon gained a shorter identity among fans as the for  ’Sud.
It was built at a new factory at Pomigliano d'Arco in southern Italy, hence the car's name, Alfa Sud (Alfa South) and developed by Austrian Rudolf Hruschka.

Launched at the Turin Motor Show the car was immediately praised for its styling (by Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign) and handling. It featured a 1,186 cc boxer engine.

The first production Alfasuds were four-door saloons, with a sporty two-door TI (Turismo Internazionale, or Touring International) model following at the end of 1973.

In 1974, Alfa Romeo launched a more luxurious model the Alfasud SE. The SE was replaced by the 'L' (Lusso) model in 1975. The Lusso model was produced until 1976, by then it was replaced with the new '5M' model, the first four-door Alfasud with a 5 speed gearbox. A three-door station wagon model called the Giardinetta was introduced for the 1975 model year.
Offered here is a 1978 saloon, which has just two registered keepers from the same family and has covered a mere 36,000 miles from new. Originally supplied by Grange Motors of Brentwood, the cars comes complete with virtually all of its receipts, original instruction booklet and service coupons, previous MoT certificates and extensive service history via receipts. The car was treated with Waxoyal when new, which has kept the rust at bay.
The car was owned by a farther and son before being placed into dry storage in 2006, where it remained until it was rescued and recommissioned in late 2014. With a new battery, fresh petrol and clean oil, it started right up. The car has since benefited from recommissioning, a new centre exhaust, new water pump and a service. When the car was MoT tested, it failed on a few minor items, which have now been addressed and there are no advisories on the new MoT.
Described as very usable and sound, this 36,000 mile Alfa Sud is a rare survivor with excellent history
