The Austin A90 Six Westminster was introduced in 1954, a large family saloon with the B.M.C. C-series straight-six engine of 2639cc. Independent coil-sprung suspension with wishbones was fitted to the front with a live rear axle with leaf springs and an anti-roll bar.
The A95 followed in 1956 and the A105 Westminster with increased power, an automatic gearbox option or an overdrive for the manual gearbox.
The first of the Pininfarina designed cars appeared in 1959. The engine grew to 2912cc with twin S.U. carburettors and the final upgrade was produced in 1961 as the A110 Westminster. This version had the extended wheelbase, giving more space for the rear seat passengers, 13inch wheels and the C-series engine now produced 120hp.
LJF 172F is a fine-looking example of the last series and designated the A110 Super Deluxe. Finished in Arianca beige over Old English White with satin beige leather trim and deep pile wool carpets.  It offers comfortable accommodation for 4/5, with lovely walnut veneer dashboard. The vendor describes the coachwork, chassis and underside as very good, mentioning that the paintwork has had some attention.
Mechanical condition is described as all good; the engine having been recently serviced, drives through a three-speed automatic gearbox. The steering has been uprated to rack and pinion, the original box is available with the car. A slight oil leak is noted, whilst the radiator and cooling system are all good. The exhaust system was upgraded to stainless steel when replaced. Various notes on file add that the dynamo was refurbished in 2019 and King-Pins replaced in 2018. The vendor reports spending some £7,195 on the car in the last three and a half years of ownership. It may be that the recorded mileage of 54147 could be genuine but is not warranted.
This lovely Westminster comes with a V5C registration certificate, a driver’s handbook and a carefully maintained file of history. A great car for the longer journeys and good to take to classic shows.
ADDENDUM
Also included in the file is a BMIHT certificate.

1973 PORSCHE 911T TARGA - COYS AUCTIONS TRUE GREATS SALE Royal Horticultural Hall Vincent Square, London SW1P2PE Tuesday 4th December 2018

FEATURED AUCTION

TRUE GREATS SALE

1973 PORSCHE 911T TARGA
Registration No: SCW 498L
Chassis No: 9113111029

Porsche’s long-running 911 arrived in 1964, replacing the 356. The latter’s rear-engined layout was retained, but the 911 switched to unitary construction for the body shell and dropped the 356’s VW-based suspension in favour of a more modern McPherson strut and trailing arm arrangement.
In its first incarnation, Porsche’s single-overhead-camshaft, air-cooled flat six displaced 1,991cc and produced 130bhp; progressively enlarged and developed, it would eventually grow to more than 3 litres and, in turbocharged form, put out well over 300 horsepower. The first of countless up-grades came in 1966 with the introduction of the 911S. Easily distinguishable by its stylish Fuchs five-spoked alloy wheels, the ‘S’ featured a heavily revised engine producing 160bhp, the increased urge raising top speed by 10mph to 135mph. The 911T was added to the Porsche line up in 1968 as the “Touring” form of the 911. It had the 2.0-litre engine, but with a performance output of 110bhp. The T was the base model, costing 10 per cent less than its more powerful brother, the 911S.
A lengthened wheelbase introduced in 1969 improved the 911’s handling, and then in 1970, the engine underwent the first of many enlargements – to 2.2 litres. Tenacious adhesion, responsive steering, very good flexibility, superb brakes, meticulous finish and a solid, unburstable feel were just some of the virtues praised by Motor magazine in its test of a Porsche 911 in 1973.
This beautiful example of the 911T Targa is presented in the original colour of Irish Green (code 1510) as corroborated by the Certificate of Authenticity in the history file. This matching numbers car benefitted from a complete engine rebuild in 2014/2015 by marque specialists RPM in Hertfordshire with invoices totalling approximately £6,000. Furnished with a UK V5C and current MOT, this superb and highly collectable Porsche is ready for a new enthusiast to take to the open road.
