OUR FEATURED AUCTION

Bonhams Auctions
The Beaulieu Sale
Beaulieu National Motor Museum
4th - 5th September 2021

1973 Citroen Mehari
Registration No: N/A
Chassis No: 05CA1421
Colour: Orange Kirghiz

Produced for 20 years between 1968 and 1988, the Citroen Mehari is a fun, lightweight recreational vehicle that is popularly used in coastal environments. Originally available in two-wheel drive (and later four-wheel drive), the Mehari weighs just 535kg and is powered by a tiny 602cc flat-two petrol engine that is shared with the 2CV6, Dyane and Ami. A four-speed dog-leg gearbox adds to the fun nature of the vehicle and pairs well with the engine. The Mehari was mechanically very simple and it remained largely unchanged for most of its life. Minor changes included vinyl doors being fitted in 1970 (with an optional vinyl roof) and a slight stylistic update in 1978.

This 1973 Mehari is a fully restored example that is presented in a beautiful Kirghiz orange colour scheme. With a restoration carried out in 2013 by The 2CV Shop in Warminster, the paintwork, bodywork and interior all present well and are in very good condition. This model is also fitted with the optional vinyl roof which adds to its year-round usability, rear seats, a tow bar and a fitted dust cover. This is a fun and unique vehicle that's ideal for use as a summer run-around.

              1973 MG MIDGET Mk3
              Registration No: DRJ 858L
              Chassis No: G-AN5-UD/134999-G
              No Reserve

The MG Midget is a small two-seater sports car produced by MG division of the British Motor Corporation from 1961 to 1979. The first version was essentially a slightly more expensive badge-engineered version of the Austin-Healey Sprite MKII and retained the quarter-elliptic sprung rear axle from the original Sprite. The engine was a 948cc A-Series with twin SU carburettors producing 46hp. Once evolved, the MG Midget Mark III sported a 1,275cc engine using the development seen on the Mini-Cooper ‘S’. Cosmetically improved, the hood was now permanently attached to the car, with an improved mechanism making it much easier to use.
This lovely Midget was purchased by the current owner in 1993 and has been regularly used and enjoyed since. Presented in the ever classic British Racing Green and accompanied by wire wheels all round, it is a charming little sports car. The file shows that it was a regular attendee of Concours events in the early ’90s and received several notable results. A great two-seat roadster which can be enjoyed from the start or brought back to former Concours glory.
