The Austin A90 Six Westminster was introduced in 1954, a large family saloon with the B.M.C. C-series straight-six engine of 2639cc. Independent coil-sprung suspension with wishbones was fitted to the front with a live rear axle with leaf springs and an anti-roll bar.
The A95 followed in 1956 and the A105 Westminster with increased power, an automatic gearbox option or an overdrive for the manual gearbox.
The first of the Pininfarina designed cars appeared in 1959. The engine grew to 2912cc with twin S.U. carburettors and the final upgrade was produced in 1961 as the A110 Westminster. This version had the extended wheelbase, giving more space for the rear seat passengers, 13inch wheels and the C-series engine now produced 120hp.
LJF 172F is a fine-looking example of the last series and designated the A110 Super Deluxe. Finished in Arianca beige over Old English White with satin beige leather trim and deep pile wool carpets.  It offers comfortable accommodation for 4/5, with lovely walnut veneer dashboard. The vendor describes the coachwork, chassis and underside as very good, mentioning that the paintwork has had some attention.
Mechanical condition is described as all good; the engine having been recently serviced, drives through a three-speed automatic gearbox. The steering has been uprated to rack and pinion, the original box is available with the car. A slight oil leak is noted, whilst the radiator and cooling system are all good. The exhaust system was upgraded to stainless steel when replaced. Various notes on file add that the dynamo was refurbished in 2019 and King-Pins replaced in 2018. The vendor reports spending some £7,195 on the car in the last three and a half years of ownership. It may be that the recorded mileage of 54147 could be genuine but is not warranted.
This lovely Westminster comes with a V5C registration certificate, a driver’s handbook and a carefully maintained file of history. A great car for the longer journeys and good to take to classic shows.
ADDENDUM
Also included in the file is a BMIHT certificate.
