1963 Ford Consul Capri Deluxe Coupe
Registration No: 287 HWC
Chassis No: H37D252578J
Engine No: 116E77850
Tax & MOT Exempt
Colour: Red
Mileage Reading: 14,768

Derived from the Consul Classic saloon and announced in the autumn of 1961, the Consul Capri was the first European-built Ford to carry the 'Capri' name. Available for little more than two seasons, the American-style Classic was an interim model produced pending the Cortina's arrival. Mechanically the Classic followed the pattern established by the Anglia 105E, featuring McPherson strut independent front suspension, a live rear axle, and a 1,340cc version of the Anglia engine. The gearbox and clutch too were carried over from the smaller car; the Classic's front disc brakes, though, were a novelty among its medium-sized family saloon contemporaries.

Mechanically the Capri was identical to the Classic, as was its bodyshell from the waist down apart from minor changes to the doors. The coupé roof lowered the centre of gravity and improving the handling, while inside there were better seats and trim. In July 1962 the 1.3-litre Classic and Capri were superseded by 1,498cc variants that brought with them more power, greater flexibility, a higher top speed and an all-synchromesh gearbox. Production of all types ceased in 1964 and today these rare modern Fords enjoy an enthusiastic following.

The current vendor purchased this Capri at the Sharpe Collection sale in June 2005, since when it has been carefully stored but not used. With only 14,799 miles recorded, the car is extremely original (we believe the paint is the original finish). The car has recently been re-commissioned and is said to run well.

Saturday 17th July 2021.

2004 Maserati 4200 Cambiocorsa Coupé

Lot No: 298
Registration No: RX04 XYP
Chassis No: XZAMBC38C000014075
Engine No: 85254
Estimate: £12,000 - £15,000

The Maserati 4200 is an evolution from the previous model 3200 and also a reference to the increase in engine size from 3.2 to 4.2 litres. The Spyder was first unveiled to the public at the 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show with the Coupé's debut following shortly after at the 2002 Detroit Motor Show. Both cars were designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign and were a true four-seater capable of comfortably seating two adults in the back. The naturally aspirated V8 engine was based on a Ferrari unit producing 385hp at 7000rpm; a gearbox is a six-speed unit that was available either as a GT (manual) or CC (Cambiocorsa) using paddle shifters. The Cambiocorsa ('race change' in Italian) is an electro-hydraulic manual transmission that uses a Formula 1 type gearbox with hydraulic operation and electronic management operated by F1-style paddles behind the steering wheel. The gearbox is located at the back of the car with the rear differential giving equal weight distribution between the front and rear of the car and providing better road holding.

This stunning example presents extremely well in gleaming black paintwork with a black leather interior. The look is enhanced with grey alloy wheels and red brake calipers. When requested the V8 engine roared into life and we are told the car is a pleasure to drive. The tremendous condition of the car is complemented by a good service history with the majority of the works being completed by either Maserati franchised garages or marque specialists. The most recent service was completed 1,100 miles ago and this Italian thoroughbred has also benefitted from a new clutch. Offered to auction with two sets of keys, a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 25th November 2021, this extremely reasonably priced Maserati should generate much interest.

1976 JAGUAR XJ12 SERIES 2 COUPE - HISTORICS AUCTION ASCOT RACECOURSE 17th April 2021

1976 JAGUAR XJ12 SERIES 2 COUPE

Registration No: OCF 395R
Chassis No: 2G1318BW
Engine No: 31798
Estimate: £14,000 - £20,000

  • A well-presented, matching numbers example
  • Desirable 5.3 litre V12 engine

A9,378 car production run of two-door XJ coupés with a pillarless hardtop body called the XJ-C was built between 1975 and 1978. The car was originally shown at the London Motor Show in October 1973, but it subsequently became clear that it was not ready for production, and the economic troubles unfolding in the western world at that time seemed to have reduced any sense of urgency about producing and selling the cars. After reports of problems with window sealing delaying production, XJ coupés finally started to emerge from Jaguar showrooms some two years later. The coupé was based on the short-wheelbase version of the XJ. The doors were made out of a lengthened standard XJ front door (the weld seams are clearly visible under the interior panels where two front door shells were grafted together with a single outer skin). Both six and twelve-cylinder models were offered; 6505 of the former and 1873 of the latter were made. The delayed introduction, the labour-intensive work required by the modified saloon body, the higher price than the four-door car, and the early demise prompted by the new XJ-S, all ensured a small production run making these coupés quite rare today.

This lovely example was first registered on 11th November 1976 and is presented in gleaming red coachwork with cream leather trim and complimentary red piping. This rare car has formed part of a large collection, has been both maintained well but also stored correctly since restoration. Offered with a UK V5C register

1964 PANHARD 24 COUPE - HISTORICS AUCTIONEERS Ascot Racecourse Sale Saturday 7th March 2020 Ascot Racecourse, High Street, Ascot SL5 7JX

FEATURED AUCTION

HISTORICS AUCTIONEERS

1964 PANHARD 24 COUPE
Registration No: LKK 649B
Chassis No: 2306646
Engine No: TBC
Guide Price: £12,000 - £15,000

Panhard was among the earliest automobile producers and, by some criteria, the first volume car producer in the world, back in 1890. The Panhard 24 is a compact two-door coupé produced between 1964 and 1967 by the French manufacturer. It was powered by a front-mounted air-cooled two-cylinder boxer motor: the basic design of this unconventional engine dated back to the 1940s. Also familiar from a succession of post-war Panhard saloons was the four-speed all-synchromesh gearbox and the front-wheel-drive configuration. The wheels were independently suspended with telescopic shock absorbers and a torsion bar for the rear axle. Although the 24 had no Panhard badged successor, a number of the features of the Citroën GS which appeared (after an unusually long gestation period) in 1970 respected Panhard traditions. The Panhard 24 may be thought of as the swan song of Panhard car production.
This Panhard is in lefthand drive format and is finished in burgundy with black interior. Now UK registered and supplied with a V5C registration document, this quirky little French car is attractive, fun and will surely create some interest when driven, when was the last time you saw one on the road? Quite a sound example, we are advised she starts, runs and drives thus meaning the car can be enjoyed immediately.
