2010 FORD FOCUS RS500 - SILVERSTONE AUCTIONS Saturday 28th May 2022

       Welcome back to Classic Chatter

OUR FEATURED AUCTION

SILVERSTONE AUCTIONS
Saturday 28th May 2022
The Runway, Sywell Aerodrome
Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BT

2010 FORD FOCUS RS500
[02/500]
Registration No: R5 SOO
Chassis No: WF0GXXGCDGAJ66872
Engine No: AJ66872

Number 002 of 500 is a superbly presented example of one of the fastest, most capable, front-wheel-drive cars ever produced.

GUIDE PRICE: £65,000-£75,000

The Ford Focus RS500 made its global debut at the Leipzig Motor Show on April 9th, 2010 and marked the final swansong for production of the remarkable, second generation, Focus RS. The new and more powerful, limited-edition Focus RS500 model was launched as the ultimate performance Ford to provide the definitive driving experience for serious performance car enthusiasts. The new model was given the RS500 designation to highlight its strictly limited production run of 500 individually-numbered vehicles and featured a muscular 345bhp, 2.5-litre, 5-cylinder engine, which generated 15% more power than the standard Focus RS and delivered truly exhilarating performance.

In the raw, the RS looked a bit of a 'beastie' with its gaping grille, 19-inch wheels, flared arches, deep diffuser, and a wing that would embarrass a Porsche Turbo, and left you in no doubt about its intentions, however, the limited-edition RS500 is even more dramatic, sporting a unique matt black 'foil' paint finish with matching alloy wheels and delivering a powerful visual impact unmatched by any other production Ford. The last of these remarkable vehicles left Ford's Assembly Plant in Germany in September 2010.

Offered here is Number ‘002’ of the 500 built and was first registered in the UK on the 20th July 2010. It's a UK-supplied, right-hand drive car that had covered just 17,230 miles at the time of cataloguing. Our vendor is the car's second owner, having purchased it in July 2014, and we understand from him that the RS from brand new went straight to Mountune where some performance parts were fitted including their Sports Exhaust, brake calliper/disc kits and inlet plenum etc. These parts are still fitted to the Focus but the car's first owner wisely kept all the original parts and they have remained with the car and could be refitted if required as they are included in the sale.

There is comprehensive service history with the car which is documented in the accompanying history file. The last visit to the Ford main dealer was in October 2021 and the RS500 has a current MOT valid until the 14th of October 2022. Pleasingly, the vendor has generously included the very appropriate registration ‘R5 SOO’ in the sale of the vehicle.

Supplied with a UK V5c, two sets of keys, the appropriate private registration plate, original parts along with the aforementioned history file containing details of its comprehensive service history, this car presents a special opportunity to own a rare RS model that joins a long line of iconic RS Fords.

2010 WEISMANN MF5 V10 ROADSTER - COYS AUCTIONS TRUE GREATS SALE The Lindley Hall, Elverton St, London SW1P 2QW Wednesday 4th Dec 2019

FEATURED AUCTION

COYS AUCTIONS
TRUE GREATS SALE
The Lindley Hall, Elverton St, London SW1P 2QW
Wednesday 4th Dec 2019

2010 WEISMANN MF5 V10 ROADSTER
Chassis No: W09R06201ADW59027
Estimate:

Launched at 2007’s Frankfurt show, the MF5 uses the same all-alloy, naturally aspirated 5-litre V10 as the BMW M5 and M6. By any standards, it’s one of the world’s great motors. It has Bi-VANOS variable camshaft control and, in addition to that astonishing 500bhp at 7750rpm, some 383lb ft of torque at 6200rpm.
Each cylinder gets its own electronically actuated throttle valve. Four oil pumps and two sumps ensure constant lubrication even during braking and cornering. It may not be a Formula 1 engine, but in contrast to the beautifully calculated antiquity of the MF5’s exterior, it might as well be.
Wiesmann claims 0-62mph in 3.9sec and a top speed of 193mph, which is serious enough performance to warrant the addition of an aggressive rear wing and diffuser to generate a little more gecko-like tenacity at speed.
The MF5’s surface-sticking capabilities are further enhanced over the MF4’s by the more hunkered-down stance and dimensions: a 5cm suspension drop, wider front and rear tracks (by 10cm and 9.8cm respectively) and an 8cm stretch in length. The standard BBS alloys are 19in in diameter, but we can’t envisage many customers not going for the optional 20-inches of our car, which, at some 11.5in wide at the rear, fill the MF5’s distended rear haunches to perfection.

The V10 is mounted low and behind the front axle line – the so-called ‘front mid-engined’ layout – and, as in the M5/M6, the drive reaches the rear wheels via BMW’s 7-speed sequential transmission, complete with its shift-speed control and variable-lock differential.
Despite the bulkier engine and transmission, the MF5 still qualifies as a lightweight. At 1380kg, it’s just 100kg heavier than the MF4 and therefore has a significantly better power-to-weight ratio: 368bhp/ton versus 287bhp/ton.
Although some 55 MF5 roadsters were produced, most were actually fitted with a V8 engine due to the V10 production finishing for the outgoing M5/M6. The factory suggests that it is likely to be as few as ten roadsters and only two delivered to the UK. This exceptionally low mileage, the one-owner roadster is indeed rarer than rare. Beautifully presented and in excellent condition throughout this is a bona fide collector’s item with the added benefit of being a truly extraordinary driving experience.
Please note that the cherished number plate is not included in the sale.

  • UK-supplied (C16-spec) on the 30th September 2010 as a rare 'S' variant of the formidable 997 Turbo
  • 3,800cc DOHC twin-turbo flat 6-cylinder producing 530 bhp at 6,000 rpm via the 7-Speed PDK Transaxle
  • Handsomely finished in the rare colour of Ruby Red Metallic with a well-optioned black leather interior
  • Diligently maintained by Porsche main dealers, most recently in January 2019 when two new tyres were fitted
  • With just 25,500 miles the car is offered from the private collection of a long-term Silverstone Auctions client
  • Presented to auction in superb order with a history file, service book, tool kits, fresh MOT and UK V5c
The facelifted version of Porsche’s 997 Turbo was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. It was fitted with a completely new 3.8-litre engine generating a maximum power output of 530bhp, thanks to revised Borg-Warner variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers, whilst the optional 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox replaced the Tiptronic. With PDK and the also optional Sport-Chrono package, which includes the availability of electronically controlled launch control and an over-boost function for temporarily increasing the turbo-pressure, Porsche claimed the 911 Turbo would accelerate from 0–62 mph in 3.4 seconds and before reaching a top speed of a staggering 194 mph.
Porsche has traditionally raised the appeal of the 911 Turbo during the latter part of its lifecycle with a heavily optioned 'S' model and the 997 Turbo is no exception. The twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre engine of the regular Turbo model has been subtly tweaked to boost performance and receives a nominal 1.0 bar of boost (against 0.8 bar on the standard version) along with lightly modified turbocharger vanes and a carbon fibre air manifold to endow the S with 530bhp and a continuous (not over-boosted) 516lb ft of torque. That’s 30bhp and 37lb ft more than the Turbo resulting in a class-leading (at the time) 0-62 mph in 3.1 seconds although the top speed remained unchanged.
This powerful, second generation, 997 Turbo S was delivered through Porsche Centre Reading on the 30th September 2010 resplendent in the rare colour of Ruby Red Metallic. Combined with the very well optioned black leather interior, the car presents as a refined Grand Tourer, but with ‘supercar’ performance. This Turbo S has been looked after by authorised Porsche service centres at the following intervals:
22/10/2012 Porsche Centre West London at 8,094 miles
22/07/2015 Porsche Centre Solihull at 13,429 miles
27/01/2017 Porsche Centre Brooklands, Surrey at 18,683 miles
25/01/2019 Porsche Centre Brooklands, Surrey at 25,298 miles
Purchased by our vendor, a long-standing and regular customer of Silverstone Auctions, on the 30th August 2017 the Turbo S joined a varied stable that included a Ferrari FF and Astons DB5, DB6 and V8 Volante. With business and charity commitments keeping him busy, the car has only travelled some 4,000 miles in his ownership. Now showing 25,393 miles, this pristine Porsche is presented to auction in superb order with a history file, service book, tool kits, fresh MOT, UK V5c and a Porsche Approved Warranty until 27th January 2020, buyers are minded to check transfer details and cost.
Combining earth-shattering performance with genuine day-to-day usability, the Turbo S is untouchable, and in this delightful colour combination and sensibly guided, appears irresistible.
