The fifth generation of the Ford F-Series is a line of pickup trucks and commercial trucks that were produced by Ford from the 1967 to 1972 model years. Built on the same platform as the fourth generation F-series trucks, the fifth generation had sharper styling lines, a larger cab and greenhouse, and expanded engine options. Over the years the design of the F-series evolved becoming sleeker more powerful and better built, with 1969 being the year of a new grille and the new more powerful 302 Windsor V8 engine. All the 1967 to 1972 trucks were front engine modular chassis with selectable two and four-wheel drive.
Imported from Lewisville Texas September 2017, this wonderful truck has benefitted from an extensive restoration, the truck has done just 3,000 miles since its rebuild. No expense was spared in the restoration; it has a rebuilt 5.9 litre V8 Ford engine mated to a three forward and one reverse speed manual gearbox modified to a floor shift. Chassis stripped and hard black enamelled. New brakes, wheels, tyres and air adjustable suspension fitted were fitted. The load bed is solid oak treated with 5 coats of Yacht lacquer. A special paint, one shade lower than Ferrari Red, was mixed and applied with 5 coats of lacquer, each coat painstakingly hand rubbed down. The finishing coats of lacquer contained a special mix of Gold metal flake, for an extra special finish – it glints in the sunlight!
The interior was stripped and completely re-trimmed with new headlining and cream Leather cloth with red piping. The truck is fitted with twin chrome exhausts that exit one each side of the truck creating an amazing sound. A truly head-turning and exceptional example of this American classic and certainly worth a closer look.
