1962 Morris Mini - RICHARD EDMONDS AUCTIONS Saturday 15th JUNE 2019 Allington, near Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN14 6LJ

FEATURED AUCTION

RICHARD EDMONDS AUCTIONS
Saturday 15th JUNE 2019
Allington, near Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN14 6LJ

1962 Morris Mini
Reg. no. 4142 MW
Chassis no. Unknown
Engine no. Unknown
It is rare to find one barn-find condition Mini, but we are fortunate to be offering two in this sale. 4142 MW is a highly original example of the rarely seen Mini pickup, and the owner has known the vehicle all his life; he can, therefore, confirm that the low mileage of 36,000 is correct. We understand that the pickup was driven into the barn in 1989 and it has not been touched since. Sadly any documentation has been lost.

Estimate:

£3,000 - £4,000

1960 Morris Mini 848cc - RICHARD EDMONDS AUCTIONS Saturday 15th JUNE 2019 Allington, near Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN14 6LJ

FEATURED AUCTION

RICHARD EDMONDS AUCTIONS
Saturday 15th JUNE 2019
Allington, near Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN14 6LJ

1960 Morris Mini 848cc
 in single ownership since 1965

Reg. no. 898 AD
Chassis no. M/A25414266
Engine no. 8HB-U-H12726
The Mini is arguably one of the most influential cars of all time; the Alec Issigonis-designed Mini debuted in 1959 to universal acclaim. The first Mini prototypes were running by November 1957 and in April 1959 the first pre-production examples were hand-assembled at Austin\'s Longbridge factory. Less than two-and-a-half years after its initial conception the Mini was officially launched at the 1959 Motor Show, having been shown to the motoring press eight days previously. BMC chose to market the car as the \'Austin Se7en\' and \'Morris Mini Minor\' before \'Mini\' became a marque in its own right in 1969. The early Mk.1 had the 848cc A-Series engine, rubber cone suspension and floor-mounted starter button, the latter two features being replaced by Hydrolastic suspension and key starting respectively in 1964.
898 AD rolled off the production line on the 12th of January 1960 and was then registered on the 3rd March that same year. The original build details were obtained from the \'Sequence Room\' by the owner when he worked at Longbridge in 1965. Some years ago the car was partly dismantled as preparation for restoration, but lack of time meant that this never progressed. 898 AD is a rare commodity, being made within the first twelve months of Mini production, and never having been restored. Now at 53 years of ownership, this car is reluctantly offered for sale with a V5c, an old MOT certificate and the aforementioned handwritten information obtained from Longbridge.

Extrastimate: £4,500 - £5,000
