e are pleased to offer this TVR 3000S which has been in the current ownership for 11 years and that is, these days, an uncommon offering within today’s market place. The ‘S’ was derived from the ‘M’ series and, up until 1978, the Blackpool based firm had not produced a convertible. That all changed with the arrival of the 3000S in 1978.  Under the skin, the rigid backbone chassis remained the same whilst the glass fibre body was set lower than the previous models and included the luxury of a boot lid. Power was supplied by the Ford, V6, Essex unit mated to a Capri close-ratio gearbox.  Only 258 examples were manufactured and it is believed that in the region of only 50 examples survive today.
This example of the TVR marque presents very well and includes its original factory wheels and sensible upgrades that include electronic ignition, electric fuel pump, twin electric cooling fans and a stainless steel exhaust system.  Also included is the factory-supplied Pioneer radio cassette and, of course, full weather equipment that includes, the hood, side screens and tonneau cover. This TVR underwent a body-off restoration during the 1990s and in 2010 was subject to a repaint, the quality of that remains evident. A large and well-presented history file includes old MoT test certificates, invoices, a UK V5 registration document and, we are informed, will arrive at the sale with a fresh MoT test certificate to enable confidence for a new owner. Also included is a photo album of the restoration and magazine articles featuring this example. The car has also been pictured within two books; The Passion to Succeed by Peter Filby and Cars by Martin Buckley and Chris Rees. We are informed that this 3000S has proved very reliable and drives very well. As a low volume manufacturer, TVR is seldom seen and with this example appearing very handsome with its silver coachwork and tan trim, we think it would enhance anyone’s collection.
