In 1932, Hudson began phasing out its Essex nameplate for the modern Terraplane brand name. The new line was launched on 21st July 1932, with a promotional christening by Amelia Earhart. For 1932 and 1933, the restyled cars were named Essex-Terraplane and from 1934 as Terraplane, until 1938 when the Terraplane was renamed the Hudson 112. In England, Terraplanes built at the Brentford factory were still being advertised in 1938. The new Eights were the only engine offered in the Hudson line, supplanting the Super Six, which soldiered on in the Essex models.

This very rare, UK factory built, righthand drive Hudson Deluxe Eight, Rumble Seat Coupé was purchased in 1994 by the late vendor. Restored in the same year, the car was then put into his collection and has been dry stored since. It has been started recently and runs but the car requires re-commissioning before been put back on the road. Finished in dark blue with grey interior this Deluxe Eight is supplied with a V5C registration document and a file containing some invoices and old registration documents dating back to 1951 showing the car had three previous owners. Once restored, this car would be the centre of attention in any classic car show or car collection.
