1958 JAGUAR XK150 SE FHC
Chassis No: S824368 DB
Registration No: 1286 DT

Announced in 1957 the XK150 was radically different from the XK140. A one-piece windscreen replaced the split screen, with a different front wing line. The widened bonnet opened down to the wings, and on the open two-seater the windscreen frame was moved back to make the bonnet longer. The dashboard was now trimmed in leather. Thinner doors gave more interior space. Suspension and chassis were very similar to the XK140, and steering was by rack and pinion. The standard engine, was the 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight-6 rated at 180 bhp.

1958 saw the introduction of special equipment models fitted with disc brakes and an SE engine using twin 1.75” SU carburettors and a modified cylinder head with larger exhaust valves. This boosted the power to 210 bhp. There was a third option, an "S" engine with three 2” HD8 carburettors and a straight-port cylinder head. This increased power to a claimed 250 bhp. An option for 1960 was a 3.8 litre 220 bhp engine. XK150S 3.8 output was 265 bhp. A 3.8 litre 150S could top 135 mph and go from 0–60 mph in around 7.0 seconds. Four-wheel Dunlop 12 in disc brakes appeared for the first time.
Production ended in October 1960, and totaled 2,265 Roadsters, 4,445 Fixed Head Coupés and 2,672 Drophead Coupés.

This is an original 1958 XK150 SE RHD UK car, 3.4 ltr. straight 6 with 4 speed gearbox and Overdrive, the SE version gave an additional 20 bhp. In good condition being sold as a running, driving project car. Restored some years ago and benefiting from recent recommissioning work totaling £4,000, this included a full service, replacement of the brake and clutch master cylinders and slave cylinder, hi-torque starter motor, new inner wheel arch/battery cover panels and a full check over. The car had been in long term ownership since the early 1990's and comes with a small amount of history and photographs from this time and its early restoration. Has had just 5 former keepers in its 60 year life.
The engine starts and runs well and the car is a pleasure to drive. Body and chassis numbers are matching however it has received an engine change at some point. Interior appears to be original, the paint/bodywork although presentable would benefit from some work, showing signs of age and use. The car appears to have originally been light blue and has had an extensive colour change later in life. An affordable ‘Big Cat’ with scope to improve.. Comes with some history and old MOT certificates and documents dating back to the 1990’s but its early history is as yet unknown. Would suit a marque enthusiast looking for an honest, useable car or a genuine UK car as a basis for future restoration. Comes with a good spare set of doors and some assorted spare parts.
