"JAUNE HELIOS" YELLOW JAMES BOND REPLICA

1987 "Jaune Hélios" Yellow replica James Bond Citroen 2cv6 Special.  This very unusual car has been subject to a full restoration inside and out.  The Citroen benefits from a fully galvanised chassis, full engine overhaul & detailing (runs really well) and fully body repairs re-sprayed in "Jaune Hélios" yellow. 

 In the 1980’s Citroën launched a special edition 2CV 007 edition to coincide with the 2CV product placement in the film “For Your Eyes Only” with Roger Moore. This was a "Jaune Hélios" 2CV 6 Spécial, painted in yellow with 007 decals and fake bullet hole stickers.

LIMOUSINE

SLEEVE VALVE ENGINE

-A very rare and stately motor car bodied by Connaught of Piccadilly, London

Acquired by the vendor in 2012 in Newport, Wales, as a part finished restoration project

Repainted and retrimmed by the vendor but recommissioning possibly required before returning to the road

Supplied new to the Middlesbrough steel company Cochrane & Co, this very stately Daimler was first registered on February 10th 1933. The chassis featured Daimler's sleeve-valve engine and "Fluidrive" fluid flywheel with Wilson pre-selector transmission, and was bodied by the prestigiously located company of Connaught Coachwork (Howard Godfrey & Co) of Piccadilly, London. The Limousine body is sumptuous and private with its two extra seats and glass compartment divider. Ownership records are on file from 1972 onwards, with the current owner purchasing the car as a project in January 2012 from a company in Newport, Gwent, that specialised in Daimler limousine hire. Our vendor was told by the seller that during their six year ownership the wooden frame, chrome, and engine had all been rejuvenated. Since acquisition, our vendor has repainted the car and completely retrimmed the interior himself with new leather, carpets, headlining, and refurbishing the original woodwork. Hardly used by the current owner, he describes the paintwork as "average", the transmission as "good", and the engine, bodywork, and interior trim as "very good", and does recommend that safety checks are carried out before the car returns to the road.

 1963 MG MAGNETTE Mk IV "FARINA" 

LEFT HAND DRIVE, AUTOMATIC

 

 

In 1961 MG replaced their Mk3 Farina bodied Magnette with the MK4 improving the handling and engine along the way with new anti-roll bars front and rear, suspension that lowered the ride height of the car plus a longer, wider wheel base. The engine was replaced using the 1622cc unit from their successful sports car the MGA. All this gave these later MG saloons handling and performance more akin to the sports car heritage associated with the “MG” name.

This superb example is a very rare automatic gearbox equipped Left Hand Drive model that was manufactured for the USA home market and first registered in 1963. Having spent most of its life prior to re-importation in a warm dry climate and with only 67000 odd miles recorded in total, it has survived excellently both externally and internally.

Presented in a lovely hue of dark green, the paintwork appears to be original with only small areas where the expected odd scratch etc have been rectified over the years. As the vendor states, this car has never been rusty or restored. The interior is the same, still original in Dove Grey leather and having never had a radio fitted the dash is un-cut with the original matching wood blanking plate in place and unused standard speaker mount below. There is a small area of discoloration to the driver’s seat bolster which seems to be where something was spilt and then cleaned at some point. Easy to recolonise to lose this which the vendor resisted doing as he preferred its originality.

Mechanically the vendor describes the engine as “runs as quiet as a mouse” with the auto gearbox operating as it was designed to, as do all the other mechanics on the car. In fact in 2015 he completed a 1000 odd mile trip through France visiting the famous WW2 sites such as Normandy, all without the car missing a beat.

The car comes complete with a large file of old MOT’s, invoices etc etc plus handbooks, manuals and period sales literature, it even has an original American “Pink slip” . The vendor also wants to bring to attention to all perspective owners, the car is so original it is still running as a “positive Earth” car as designed.

With only 7 in total Farina bodied MK3 and 4 Magnettes now left taxed for road use and one more on SORN, these cars are getting exceedingly rare and are increasing in value every day. This is a turn key ready to go car with the vendor placing a new MOT prior to its sale at the auction. Being offered at the sort of reserve that makes it a must buy for any collector or somebody looking for an entry into affordable classic car ownership.

NOTE. Personal plate has been removed now back on the correct Age Related “A” suffix plate and a “Heritage Certificate” for the car is in the paperwork. The original amber front lenses are supplied if the new owner wishes to replace the clear ones with amber bulbs that are currently fitted. MOT now carried out which it passed with flying colours.

1953 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER STATION WAGON

- A very rare vehicle of which only 1,400 are believed to have been built, and thought to have covered only 35,500 miles from new

- UK registered in 2009 and reportedly re-wired in 2010, and thought to be extremely original and retain its original body panels and interior

- 331ci V8 engine and semi-automatic gearbox, plus power steering, brakes, and windows

Relatively little is known about the Stateside history of this delightful example of 1950s Americana, though it is initially believed to have been employed by the manufacturer to introduce the dealers to the concept of the Station Wagon. It then formed part of the factory museum until purchased by a private collector. The Wagon was certainly an expensive option and it is thought only 1,400 were ultimately built, of which the one offered is a rare and extremely original surviving example that has covered just 35,400 miles from new. It was first UK registered in 2009, when in the care of a Mrs Caroline Rosemary Kisko, and has had only one further keeper since, who acquired the car in May 2013. 

It is powered by a 331ci 'Firepower' Hemi V8 engine that drives through Chrysler's patented Fluid Drive semi-automatic transmission. The vehicle is presented in its original livery of Brown over Beige and trimmed in perfectly patinated faux crocodile leather. The load area is a wonderful mix of highly polished wood and chrome ribbing, while the facia's a sea of ornate controls, including those for the factory-fitted heater and radio. The steering wheel has the words Power Steering inset into the centre, just in case you were in any doubt the car featured such technology. The Chrysler also sports power brakes and power windows and rides on its original wire wheels - an option of the period - shod with White walled tyres. The only non-original features of note are the bumpers, which are Chrysler Imperial ones. Rust-free, thanks to spending its life in a dry climate, '536 XUU' was apparently rewired in 2010 and is now felt by the vendor to have an 'excellent' V8 engine, and 'very good' transmission, bodywork, paintwork, interior trim and electrical system. A great opportunity.

1972 CITROEN 2CV AKS 400 FOURGONETTE

Reputedly supplied new to Spain in 1972, this handsome Citroen 2CV Van was later purchased by Mr Shacaluga of Gibraltar with the aim of using it to promote his confectionary business. Upgraded for its new role, the light commercial was apparently fitted with the engine, gearbox and front disc brakes from a 1984 Citroen 2CV Saloon (plus other parts). Treated to a special paint job together with 'Gibraltar Confectionary' stickers, the 2CV also gained a wooden steering wheel, roof height cabin cooling fan, special seat covers, bespoke stainless steel bumpers and Citroen GS Pallas wheel trims. Understood to have been sparingly used by Mr Shacaluga and to have not formed part of his day-to-day delivery fleet, the Van was imported to the UK during 2007. Having previously benefited from a gearbox overhaul and replacement steering rack 'B198 KNV' is offered with an MOT certificate into November 2016 with no advisories, V5C, 'bits and bobs from its time in Gibraltar' and a collection of invoices.
