The Fiat 124 Spider was launched at the Turin Motor Show and was designed by Tom Tjaarda who worked for Pininfarina and took over full production of the Spider in 1983. It was and still is, the only car ever to be manufactured by Pininfarina in its entirety. In 1984, it was re-launched at the Geneva Motor Show and was renamed Pininfarina Azzurra in honour of Italy’s racing yacht entry into the Louis Vuitton Cup. It came standard with leather trim, air conditioning and improved instrumentation and alloy wheels. The fuel-injected 1995cc produced 104bhp, which was mated to a five-speed manual gearbox; stopping power came from disc brakes on all four wheels.
This pretty Pininfarina spider is finished in red with cream leather interior. We are advised the engine runs well and she drives with no known faults. Showing no sign of corrosion, the vendor imported this Azzurra from the US and has ensured the car presents in good condition throughout. Registered with the DVLA in Swansea and supplied with a V5C registration document together with a current MoT test certificate, this rare Pininfarina Spider Azzurra looks to be a great fun car for a relatively modest outlay.
