Grinnall Specialist Cars of Bewdley has been making radically re-engineered sportscars and trikes for over two decades. Owner Mark Grinnall established his reputation by making souped-up versions of the Triumph TR7 and TR8 in the late 1980s, followed by the highly rated BMW bike-engined Scorpion three-wheeler track day weapon in the 1990s. The latest addition to the range is the R3T, a high-performance trike tourer based on Triumph’s superb shaft-driven Rocket III motorcycle. It is powered by Triumph’s 2.3 litre fuel-injected three-cylinder engine which produces 146bhp and 163lb/ft of torque, sufficient to hurl you to 100mph in just 10 seconds with a top speed of over 120mph. A super-stiff chassis, sophisticated independent double wishbone rear suspension and massive disc brakes help to keep all this performance under control. With seating for two and plenty of luggage space, the R3T makes an exhilarating and highly individual tourer that can be ridden on a normal car driving licence (with or without a helmet) and only attracts the same road tax rate as a motorcycle.
This exciting Grinnall R3T is finished in red with black seats and polished custom wheels with lashings of sparkling chrome. The vendor purchased this tricycle in 2016 and it has been residing in his collection of classic cars ever since. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a MoT test certificate which expires in 2020, this 2004 Grinnall R3T has only covered 10,000 miles from new and is not for the shy and retiring! In excellent condition throughout and said to drive beautifully, this tricycle it is being offered at a considerable saving over the £23,000 list price of a new machine.
