1950 CADILLAC 'SERIES 62' 5.4 LITRE V8 SEDAN

Reg. no. YWG 147

Chassis no. Unknown
Engine no. Unknown
In 1940, with the United States still uninvolved in the war raging in Europe and Asia, American car manufacturers continued to introduce new models at an unabated pace. General Motors was no exception, expanding their range-topping Cadillac brand with the addition of a new entry-level luxury vehicle, the Series 62. This was of course entry-level by Cadillac standards – it was still an expensive and luxurious vehicle. As was often the case in the mid-century American automobile industry, styling changes were frequent and dramatic, and by the time the third generation of the model was introduced in 1948, it looked a very different car. The big change for 1949 was the introduction of a 5.4 litre overhead valve V8, replacing the pre-war sidevalve unit. This engine produced 160bhp, and from 1950, was coupled to a Hydramatic automatic gearbox. Available body styles were two and four door sedans, a convertible, and a two door coupe.
This 1950 Series 62 four door sedan is said to be in very good mechanical order. Imported from Gateway Classic Cars in Nashville, USA in 2015, it has since been repainted and the bodywork and paint are said to be excellent. The car comes with a V5c.
