HISTORICS @ BROOKLANDS
Saturday 22nd September 2018
Brooklands Museum, Weybridge, Surrey

2014 LADA GRANTA
FIA TCI WTCC WORKS FACTORY RACE CAR
Chassis No: TMS 21905 14 001

  • Genuine FIA TC1 WTCC Works Factory Race Car rolling chassis
  • Driven by James Thompson in 2014
  • Build cost was in excess of €500,000
  • Original FIA Passport barcode and label present
  • FIA passport number; TC1-14-005
This Genuine FIA TC1 WTCC Works Factory Race Car/Rolling Chassis was the original works car for the 2014 season driven by Touring Car driver James Thompson who drove for Lada between 2009 and 2015. In 2014 Thompson finished 15th in the Championship standings scoring 22 points behind his team mate Robert Huff with the Team Lada Sport finishing a respectable 3rd in the Constructors’ Championship. The sister car driven by Huff can still be found in a museum which is where this example presided until purchased by our vendor.

The new TC1 class introduced for 2014 was very different to the previous year’s S2000 class with large changes to aero, bodywork and engines resulting in teams spending double or in some cases four times the cost to build. In this instance, we are informed Lada Sport spent in excess of €500,000 just on the TC1 chassis in order to compete let alone the added expense for the engines; when complete the cars weighed in at only 1100kg and needed ballast to make the minimum weight to race.

We are pleased to offer this rolling shell with the wiring loom present and correct and with the original steering wheel valued at over £5,000 alone! A genuine factory works TC1 car and importantly not a privateer effort, this car has the original FIA Passport barcode and label present and correct. Offered without the 2014 engine, gearbox or accompanying race seats which were retained by the works team this is an exciting opportunity to buy a very special recent works racing car with huge potential to build into a very competitive race, track or hillclimb car. Viewing is strongly recommended to appreciate the level of simply incredible detail; the specification is extensive and very different to the cheaper BTCC or similar national championship cars.

Specification:
Bespoke shell built by Oreca Motorsport with significant bracing and lightening
FIA specification roll cage with additional bracing
Carbon driver crash protection reinforcement
Carbon composite panels and carbon roof
Windows/glass replaced by Aerospace quality lightweight perspex made by Isoclima Aerospace
