We are informed that this Series IIA was brought out of hibernation some seven years ago and a sympathetic restoration followed: the vehicle was fitted with a new galvanised chassis, the bulkhead was shot blasted and restored, the axles were refurbished, body cappings were re-galvanised and the body and wheels were sprayed throughout. For the interior, the front and rear (bench) seats were all renewed and a dog guard fitted. The Land Rover was also equipped with an unleaded cylinder head conversion and the gearbox was checked and serviced. A new wiring loom has been fitted, together with copper brake pipes, new brake hoses and cylinders. Other renewed parts include a stainless steel exhaust system, road springs, shock absorbers and a fuel tank. As one can appreciate, a great deal of money has obviously been lavished on this project.
Because documentation was lost during the long period of storage, DVLA in its infinite wisdom issued a new registration certificate with the year stated as 2011 (when the Land Rover was returned to the road) - this should be easy to rectify should the new owner wish. Interestingly, UWP 296F is classed as an historic vehicle so is tax exempt and also MOT test exempt.
Since the restoration, the Series IIA has been professionally maintained; a change in circumstances forces the sale. The history file contains invoices, several MOT test certificates, the V5C registration certificate and others.
