DORSET CLASSIC & CLASSIC AUCTIONS
Thursday 13th September 2018
(Viewing  Wednesday 12th 2pm -6pm from 9am day of sale)
Athelhampton House Near Dorchester, Dorset, DT2 7LG

1971 LEYLAND LEOPARD ALEXANDER BUS

Registration Number: RSD 732J

Chassis Number: 7003130

Mileage: 213200
Guide Price: £12500 - 13500
Road Tax Exempt

This 1971 Alexander bodied fifty-three seater Leyland Leopard was originally in service with Western Scottish in Ayrshire. It was purchased by an enthusiast in 2007, who used it under PSV status for local tours and events. Its most recent owner acquired the Leopard in 2014, using it privately for outings and family weddings.
Currently registered as 'Historic Vehicle', the bus has a ‘Class 5’ MOT test certificate, allowing it to be used privately. We are informed that it would be relatively easy to restore the PSV status if desired, as an old PSV test certificate, along with its COIF (Certificate of initial fitness) are included in the file, together with the V5C registration certificate.
In recent years, The Leyland has benefited from the installation of an upgraded cab heater, a 12v socket and hazard warning lights. The vendor informs us that it had a complete respray in its original livery in 2015, and having a body combination of aluminium and fibre glass, thankfully, corrosion is not an issue. A new exhaust manifold has recently been fitted, together with two replacement batteries.
We understand that the bus drives well, is very reliable and is in good condition throughout with no known faults. The original seating is in good order (with some fabric repairs carried out), the flooring is original cork and the inside roof trim is clean and tidy.
As well as the aforementioned paperwork, the sale also includes three spare wheels and tyres and a full (two-part) replacement windscreen.
