1936 AUSTIN 10/4 COLWYN CABRIOLET

Registration Number: CHT 279
Chassis Number: 82329
MOT Test Expiry: Exempt
Guide Price: £11000 - 14000
Road Tax Exempt

This eighty-two year old Colwyn Cabriolet has been in the present ownership, an Austin Ten Driver’s Club member, for sixteen years and has clearly been well-looked after throughout that time. Affectionately known as Jezebel, it is described as being good throughout and comes with its original Bristol registration number. We are assured that the bodywork is sound and that the floor, chassis and underside are solid. The vendor tells us the paintwork is presentable, although there are some chips and signs of ‘rubbing down’, and the original brightwork could be improved on should the new owner wish. The original upholstery is worn, as one would expect, but does enhance the character of the motor car, and we understand that the otherwise serviceable hood has a small tear and an opaque rear window. Mechanically, the Austin is very good, benefitting from a reconditioned and overhauled replacement engine that was fitted in 2017 at a cost of £4000. The braking system was also overhauled at that time.
Lack of space and the marching on of time forces the sale of this pretty Austin 10/4, which is offered with a history file that includes the V5C registration certificate, a detailed invoice for the aforementioned engine overhaul, and a maintenance book for the model, together with a copy of an Austin Ten Driver’s Club valuation and report of the motor car, stating that CHT 279 is a ‘delightful example of a much sought after model in sound running order’ and ‘..the original interior adds much to the value of the car’.
