1976 VOLKSWAGEN 'JEANS' BEETLE

The Volkswagen Beetle is truly a motoring icon. Launched in 1938 as the ‘People’s Car’ it was designed to bring mobility to those of fairly modest means; the price brief to its designer, Dr Porsche, was that car had to be able to be sold for 100 Reichmarks. It remained in production in various guises all over the world for close to sixty years, and during its production life, the basic concept remained unaltered – although it underwent over 70,000 identifiable modifications.
The Jeans’ along with the City’ and Big’ were a significant trio of Sales Campaign models launched in 1974 to reinvigorate the Beetle model. Uniquely upholstered in denim, the Jeans’ variant was certainly the most striking, leading main dealers to offer a ‘Jeans Kit’ of decals, seat covers and mud flaps in mid-1974.
The charming Beetle on offer here today left the Vogosca-Sarajevo factory in 1976 and was found by its current owner in Belgrade. Described to be in good condition throughout and showing no signs of rust, this Beetle has been carefully maintained and looked after. Presented in white with the wonderful Jeans Kit, including denim interior, the car is a real head-turner and would offer a wonderful everyday car. Interested parties should note that VAT is payable on this Lot at the buyer’s local rate.
