The end of World War II saw Leyland poised to expand as they supplied vehicles during a period many enthusiasts consider to be a 'Golden Age' of road transport. Famous UK manufacturers of Scammel Lorries and Albion Motors were acquired and production of the new Comet truck and bus range came soon after and included the newly developed Vista Vue cab. The "Super Comet" was later introduced as the heavy-duty model and eventually supplanted the "regular" Comet. In 1958 the more powerful 375 engine, based on the preceding design and rated at 110 hp, became available with later engines redesigned with a power output of 115hp and 125hp respectively.
This 1958 Leyland Super Comet fuel tanker has recently been restored and finished in its original yellow livery with traditional hand-painted National Benzole signage. Commissioned in period to deliver petrol throughout London the tanker has more recently been used for corporate promotional purposes by the vendor. In very good order throughout the 'Super Comet' drives superbly and is a rare sight on the roads today. This must be one of the best examples available and would be a fantastic addition to any collection. Offered with a V5C registration document and photographs of the restoration process.
