Brightwells Auctions
Affordable Classics Sale
Wednesday 21st March 2018
Bicester Heritage. (OX26 5HA)

1981 AUSTIN ALLEGRO 3 HLS
Colour: Turquoise
Registration Number: HEC 306X
Chassis No.: SAAAMFLF7AD158796
Engine size: 1,485 cc
Engine No.: 14352
Estimate: No Reserve

The second of our Allegro 3s in the sale today, this one has the larger 1,500cc O-Series OHC engine and five-gears.
It was first delivered by R Spooner and Sons in Appleby, subsequently being looked after by Roy Ashley Ltd who were based just down the road. They knew the car well, its original service book showing nine stamps in total, the most recent service according to them taking place in 1994 at 32,000 miles.
Complete with V5C and its original handbook, there are also fifteen old MOTs in the file, and an online check confirms that the mileage, which still only reads 44,724 miles is genuine.
As its most recent test only expired in July last year, this car should need very little in the way of recommissioning before it is fired up again.
Allegros of all ages have become very collectable of late, the lambasting that they got in the press (much of it rather unfairly) has kept them current, especially amongst the youth of today. You won’t find another Allegro in this condition and with these miles any time soon so don’t hold back, if you want to be hip, cool and trendy – look no further. We love the Turquoise too..
