The Fiat 500 was produced between 1957 and 1975 with limited production of the Fiat 500K estate continuing until 1977. It was designed by Dante Giacosa and, despite its diminutive size, the 500 proved to be an enormously practical and popular vehicle throughout Europe capturing the hearts and minds of the public. Launched as the Nuova (new) 500, it was marketed as a cheap and practical town car.  Measuring only three metres long, and originally powered by a tiny 479cc two-cylinder, air-cooled engine, the 500 redefined the term 'small car' and is considered one of the first city cars.
This fabulous Fiat is based on a righthand drive 500L and has been extensively re-worked to a specification very close in execution to the Works Abarth Gp.2 race cars. The list of modifications is as follows; rebuilt engine sporting a giant side draught twin-choke Weber carburettor, special head and fast road cams, competition type extractor manifold working in unison with a sports exhaust, large capacity finned alloy sump. Rebuilt brakes, lowered suspension and rare competition wheels give this Fiat a purposeful stance. Cosmetically, RFM 358L is finished in two-tone blue with a chequered roof. The interior has a roll cage, twin bucket seats, race harnesses and a fully instrumented Works-style dashboard. Having remained in the hands of a car collector for a number of years, it is time for this Fiat to find a new owner. Supplied with a registration document, this Abarth recreation is built to a magnificent specification and offers fun and excitement in abundance.
