ANNUAL CLASSIC CHRISTMAS SALE
SANDOWN PARK, ESHER,
TUESDAY 12th DECEMBER 2017

1987 PORSCHE 944S
Chassis No - WPOZZZ94ZHN400498

Porsche introduced the 944 in 1982. The factory-claimed 0-60 mph time of fewer than 9 seconds and top speed of 130 mph was pessimistic, Autocar having verified a top speed of 137 mph, and a 0-60 time 8.3 seconds. The car had nearly even front to rear weight distribution (50.7% front/49.3% rear) thanks to the rear transaxle balancing out the engine.
In mid-1985, the 944 underwent its first significant changes. These included a new dash and door panels, embedded radio aerial, upgraded alternator, increased oil sump capacity, new front and rear cast alloy control arms and semi-trailing arms, larger fuel tank, optional heated and powered seats. For 1988 the 944 Motronic DME was updated, and newly incorporated anti-lock braking and airbags. In early 1989 before the release of the 944S2, Porsche upgraded the 944 from the 2.5 to a 2.7 L engine, with a rated 162 hp, and a significant increase in torque. In addition to the increase in displacement, the new motor featured a siamese-cylinder block design and a different cylinder head which incorporated larger valves. The car was phased out in 1979.

The Porsche 944S offered here has the original book back including user manual and service record with a full book of stamps. The car has been fully serviced and had all mechanical parts replaced that needed attention, very recently and is described by the vendor as a car that drives brilliantly. The bodywork is in fantastic condition and the interior is equally as great. The spare key is present. The vehicle has had 13 previous owners and it is HPI clear. It has just passed MOT with no advisory items.

1957 MORRIS 1000 VAN
Chassis No - OEJ11/59874
The Morris Minor debuted at the Earls Court Motor Show, London, on 20 September 1948. Designed under the leadership of Alec Issigonis, more than 1.3 million were manufactured between 1948 and 1972 in three series: the MM (1948 to 1953), the Series II (1952 to 1956) and finally the 1000 series (1956 to 1971). Initially available as a two-door saloon and convertible, the range was expanded to include a four-door saloon in 1950, a wood-framed estate, the Traveller from October 1953 and panel van and pick-up truck variants from May 1953. It was the first British car to sell over one million units and is considered a classic example of automotive design, as well as typifying "Englishness".
This example is a 1957 Morris 1000 Panel Van. This superb little van is sign written for AJ Sutherland, Fish Monger in Portsoy, Scotland. It comes with lots of service history and invoices.
Sutherland of Portsoy was founded in 1908 and the family still run a very successful business to date. An image was discovered in the archives of Sutherland of grandfather Sutherland sitting in one of the original A J Sutherland vans.
As part of a recent re-marketing and re-branding campaign, the Sutherland family decided to replicate the original image using a classic vehicle with Maurice Sutherland sitting in the driving seat. Due to the quality of the original image, they were unable to use this in their campaign but a family friend owned a classic Morris that he kindly donated for the shoot for them to match the branding. Elaine has kindly sent us the original image to which this campaign was all based around

ANNUAL CLASSIC CHRISTMAS SALE
SANDOWN PARK, ESHER,
TUESDAY 12th DECEMBER 2017

1967 AUSTIN A35 VAN
Chassis No - AAV865440

Introduced in 1956, the Austin A35 replaced the highly successful A30. The name reflected the larger and more powerful 34 hp inline-four engine. The A35 is very similar in appearance to the A30, except for a larger rear window aperture and a painted front grille, with chrome horse-shoe surround, instead of the chrome grille on the A30. The semaphore turn-signal indicators were replaced with modern front and rear-mounted flashing lights. A slightly easier to operate remote-control gear-change was provided. Much of the improved performance is a result of different gearbox ratios.
Like the A30, the A35 was offered as a two- or four-door saloon and two-door "Countryman" estate and also as a van. The latter model continued in production through to 1968. A rare Pickup version was also produced in 1956, with just 477 sold.
This 1967 Austin A35 van is one of the last produced. The vendor states that this very original little van is ready to show. It was sign written for a decorating company in Walsall.
The van has a good service history with original sales invoice, service booklet, original owner's manual, lots of old MOTs and invoices.

TUESDAY 12th DECEMBER 2017

1934 ALVIS SPEED 20 SB
(In Need of Restoration)

The Alvis Speed 20 is a British touring car that was made between late 1931 and 1936 by Alvis Car and Engineering Company in Coventry. It went through four variants coded SA to SD. The SB launched at the October 1933 London Motor Show had a new cruciform braced chassis, slightly longer at 124 inches,  with independent front suspension using a single transverse leaf spring with a long solid anchorage in the centre. Steering was improved using new designs employed for racing Alvis cars since 1925. Road shocks were not transmitted from one wheel to the other nor did they affect the steering wheel and the gyroscopic effect was eliminated. Rear springs damped by Hartford Telecontrol dampers are long and underslung. The engine remained the same but the new all-silent gearbox, the first of its type, gained synchromesh on bottom gear and was mounted separately from the engine. A built-in jacking system was fitted as standard. As with the SA, a wide range of bodies were fitted to the cars. Large Lucas 12 in  P100 headlamps became standard, adding to the sporting appearance of the car.

This Barn Find 1934 Alvis speed 20 left the factory with a tourer body made by Cross and Ellis. The front end bulkhead, boot floor, rear arches, and front screen are still remaining of the tourer body. The engine, gearbox, prop shaft and differential are all complete as per the photos.
The car also comes with a complete speed 20 saloon body, comprising of the rear end, boot lid, 4 complete doors, B pillars, sills, bulkhead and windscreen.

The previous owner now resides in Chile, South America. There is a full receipt for the car, and it is still on the DVLA system with the logbook applied for.

Note: This description is provided by the vendor and unless otherwise stated is 'Not Verified' by Barons or any person employed by Barons. Prospective purchasers are advised to satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of any statements made, whether they be statements of fact or opinion.
