From 1984 until 1988 the Austin Montego was manufactured by British Leyland until the Rover Group took over its production from 1988 until 1995. Developed to supersede the Morris Marina and the Princess, the Montego was seven long years in design and available initially only as a four-door saloon, but a year later the estate version was launched.  Like the entire Rover branding the Montego offered several variations of the marque; the MG, for example, was a sporty high-performance motor car. Over 400,000 models were produced, but the cessation of leaded petrol in 1999 led to a high percentage of Montegos being scrapped.

This one owner from new 1991 example is described as being in good mechanical condition. We are told that the bodywork and paint are average for a car of this age and apparently, some repairs have been carried out to the panel work and invoices for this are supplied with the motor car. The underside is solid and has been rustproofed and the interior is very original and in good order.

Now becoming a rare motor car, this modern classic retains its original specification and is offered with a large history file that includes the original sales invoice, handbooks in their original wallet, the V5C registration certificate, a quantity of invoices and MOT test certificates. Another rear door is also supplied for spare parts.

Founded in 1987 by brothers Mark and Harvey Wooldridge, Quantum is a small sports car company that initially produced models based on the Ford Fiesta. The motor cars were offered in either factory assembled form, or as a kit; early models were coupes, evolving onto saloons based on the Fiesta Mk II. By 1993, the company also offered 2+2 convertibles, and the ‘H4’ arrived in 1998, using the nippy Fiesta XR2i with a twin cam 1600cc engine as its donor. Production of the H4 ceased in 2003 after just 215 models were manufactured.
We understand that AIG 7934 is a factory built example and was in the previous family ownership from 2004. It boasts refinements such as power assisted steering, central locking and electric windows; the removable roof panel can be stowed inside the boot and the remaining glass ‘back window’ then pivots into the rear bodywork of the motor car, producing a true convertible. We are assured by the vendor that the exciting Quantum is ‘a very nice car to drive, with enough power and very good handling'. There are no known faults with the sports car and it is described as good in all departments. The private registration number is included in the sale of this economical and fun summer runabout.
The H4i Quantum is supplied with a V5C registration certificates, invoices and other sundry paperwork.
