1935 SINGER LE MANS FOX & NICHOLL TEAM CAR
Chassis Number: LM11

LM11 is 1 of 3 Race Cars built by the Famous Fox & Nicholl Race Car Company who were also responsible for the construction of the 1935 Le Mans winning Lagonda LG45R which sold for R28M at the 2014 Bonham’s Goodwood Revival Auction. The cars were chassis numbers LM 11, LM 12 & LM 13. This is LM 11. The only surviving car.
The car features a rare 2L 6-cylinder engine with three side draught carburettors. #LM11 was Fox & Nichols’ Team Car 1935/1936 and was registered as BPG333 in the UK. Featured in Autocar 23rd January 1953 (after the war), and reprinted on pages 93 and 94 in the Brooklands Books-Singer Sport Cars 1933 to 1954.
Rather interestingly, the car arrived in South Africa in 1938 inside an SAAF aircraft as the owner at the time was an aircraft rigger that was under contract with the SAAF to re-rig the SAAF Glouster Javelins bi-planes. Subsequently purchased by Messrs Brite and Rice in the late 1940s followed by Mr. T Maynier, in the 50s, Doug Ramsey until 1983, Duncan Roberston until 1999 and David Lyons until 2012.
Purchased by the current vendor in 2012, this very interesting car is offered with a comprehensive study on LM11’s heritage and a file including old newspaper clippings. Finished in French blue with dark blue interior and a mere 11,382 miles recorded.
