1955 FORD F600 CAR TRANSPORTER
Colour: Red
Registration Number: 822 UYN
Chassis No: F60V5C14757
Engine size: 6,400 cc
Engine No.: 55214T
Estimate: £17,000 - £19,000
Do not think of this Ford F600 car transporter as just another lot, but, rather, see it as an opportunity to change your life forever. Ownership of a car transporter will make you immediately popular with scores of people you never knew, friends you rarely see will visit more often – even buy you drinks in the pub and, if you play your cars right, you could become immensely wealthy (all car shippers are rich: fact).
On the other hand, you may be a man with a classic or vintage racing car and want something a little distinctive and appropriate to move your pride and joy around. This 1955 6.4-litre Ford is that something. And if you don’t have a classic or vintage racer, have a look elsewhere in this catalogue: TR2 Falcon Caribbean, Amilcar Riley…..
The vendor found the Ford somewhat neglected but recognised the potential. He had the heavy steel bed stripped off the truck and a new aluminium “cheese-grater” bed fitted. He also had the truck subjected to a quality respray (during which olive green paint was discovered, suggesting a military past).
The wheels were long past their best so, at some expense, all seven wheels were rebuilt with new rims and new tyres. The brakes were overhauled (new cylinders and pipework), new manifold gaskets fitted, engine serviced and a new electric winch fitted.
The truck is currently rated at 5.0 ton gross weight, but could easily be downgraded to 3.5 ton, which would allow you to drive it on a standard driving licence and still retain the 900kg payload, unless of course you passed your test before 1997 in which case it is not a problem at all....
