Brightwells Auctions
Leominster Classic & Vintage Sale
Wednesday 7th March 2018
Easters Court, Leominster, Herefordshire, HR6 0D

1970 AUSTIN 1300GT
Registration Number: EGO 877J
Chassis Number: AA$DA10424
Engine Number: 12H298838782
Colour: Blue
Estimate: £3,300 - £4,000

A rare motorcar and the nearest thing you will find to a four door Mini (apart from the odd prototype, custom car or modern BMW mutant masquerading as a Mini), this Austin 1300GT uses the running gear and basic layout of the Issigonis pocket rocket but stretched.
Four doors, slightly sedate styling, and comfort – but with a twist. The twist being that the standard car had the zippy 1275GT engine and this one has even more oomph: bored out to 1,301cc with Kent 276 camshaft and LCB exhaust system. A Cooper S in a business suit, you might say.
This GT has had little use since a new clutch and nylon bushes were fitted in 2002 but there are no more details on the car: what you see is what you get – GT hubcaps and badges included. Having said that, there should be some rather nice black and silver number plates on the car by the time of the sale to make the most of that EGO number. Oh, and an original 1300GT handbook. Remember: only Brightwells gives you more!
