1957 CHEVROLET STAGEWAY Carry-All Crew Bus - Historics @ Brooklands 29-08-15

COMING TO AUCTION
FROM
1957 CHEVROLET STAGEWAY
Carry-All Crew Bus

'Tough Guy' most aptly describes the Stageway Chevrolet fifteen passenger Carry-All; the big coach in the small coach field. It is hard to believe that beneath the beautiful coachwork is the sturdy heart and heavy-duty constitution of a Chevrolet 'Task Force' truck! The price when new included all the other heavy-duty features, which include a V8 Taskmaster engine, four-speed gearbox, servo assisted brakes, generator, clutch, shock absorbers, radiator, battery, seats and floor mats, which make the Stageway Chevrolet Carry-all even more rugged, more durable and more economical in operating. Yet with all this sturdy ruggedness, the Stageway is as gentle as a lamb with passenger car comfort, smoothness and easy handling. These Carry-All's were a favourite with the American airlines of the time being used to transport aircrews to and from their aircraft and also favoured by sports teams and high schools.
This 1957 Chevrolet Stageway Carry-All Crew Bus was built for and used by the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team who won 11 World Championships over the years. Imported to the UK in 2007, it was then repainted and converted to a Limousine at a cost of around £24,000 which included making and fitting bespoke bench seats and installing a 12 volt system for a 24" television, music and entertainment centre. Painted in white with grey interior which has been finished to the highest of standards, this Stageway Carry-All is supplied with a V5C registration document and a copy of the US title certificate. This is a unique vehicle which is ideal for those who have a large family or promotional vehicle and who want something different and don't mind it turning heads wherever it goes.
