1958 JAGUAR Mk I 3.4 Litre

Estimate: £16,000 - £20,000
Registration Number: XSL 202
Chassis Number: S974249BW
Produced by Jaguar between 1955 and 1959 and referred to in contemporary company documentation as the Jaguar 2.4-Litre and Jaguar 3.4-Litre, the designation 'MK I' was included retrospectively upon its replacement by the MKII in October 1959.
The MKI was the first Jaguar with unitary construction of body and chassis. The independent front suspension featured double wishbones, coil springs, telescopic dampers, and an anti-roll bar, all carried in a separate subframe mounted to the body by rubber bushes.
The MKI was initially offered with a 2.4-litre short-stroke version of the XK120's twin-cam six-cylinder engine, rated at 112bhp, but from February 1957 the larger 3.4-litre 210bhp unit already used in the Mark VIII also became available, largely in response to pressure from US Jaguar dealers.
Finished in Old English White with a contrasting red interior, this right hand drive rolled off the Jaguar production line in 1958, and is described by the vendor as being in excellent condition throughout, having been fully restored.
Fitted with the more desirable 3.4-litre straight six engine, this fine example is supplied with its increasingly rare original handbooks and a UK V5 document. This is a fantastic example of a rare and increasingly desirable model from a legendary marque.
