OUR FEATURED AUCTION
HISTORICS AUCTIONS
Saturday 25th September 2021
Ascot Racecourse, High Street, Ascot
Berkshire SL5 7JX

1989 MG MONTEGO EFi
Registration No: F914 GAK
Chassis No: SAXXEYLU7BM500553
Engine No: 20HE130106450
No Reserve

Very low mileage
Timewarp condition
Fully stamped service history booklet

Produced by British Leyland and latterly the Rover Group between 1984 and 1995, the Montego started life as a four-door hatchback. The high-performance MG version was offered using a 2.0-litre engine and used the solid-state instrument cluster, trip computer, and synthesised voice for the information and warning systems. Essentially a Maestro with a boot, a total of 34,476 2.0i cars were produced with a further 7,276 Turbo’s, survivors now being very scarce.

This rare MG Montego EFi has the 1994cc fuel injected straight-four engine and manual five-speed gearbox. Finished in complementary white with grey cloth interior, the EFi has only covered an incredibly low 31,402 miles from new. First registered in May 1989, the condition of the car is remarkable and must be seen to be believed. Not only is the condition of the car incredibly good and the mileage very low, the car also boasts being supplied with all of its original booklets and guides, as well as servicing invoices from its life. The vendor describes the car as outstanding and a pleasure to drive with everything working as you would hope.

Supplied with a UK V5C registration document, all of its booklets, (including its fully stamped service booklet), old invoices and a spare key. Perhaps not your obvious classic, but an important part of British automotive history and in a condition second to none, this is a rare opportunity to own a time warp condition example.

1937 Bentley Park Ward Saloon 4.5 Litre - HISTORICS AUCTIONS Saturday 25th September 2021 Ascot Racecourse, High Street, Ascot

OUR FEATURED AUCTION
HISTORICS AUCTIONS
Saturday 25th September 2021
Ascot Racecourse, High Street, Ascot
Berkshire SL5 7JX

1937 Bentley Park Ward Saloon 4.5 Litre
Registration No: ELR 493
Chassis No: B71KU
Engine No: M7BA
Estimate: £75,00-£90,000

Originally owned by Sir Ralph Richardson
Presents in splendid condition
Great history folder

When Rolls-Royce bought Bentley Motors, they shut down production of the 8 and 4½ litre. They then had to decide what to do with the Bentley name as they couldn't afford to alienate their customer base and not build a new Bentley. The question was what sort of car to build; after several false starts, the Experimental Department developed a prototype car based on an earlier 18hp experimental chassis called the 'Peregrine' and a suitably tweaked 20/25hp engine; this combination proved to be a winner. Launched in 1933, the first of what would become known as the 'Derby Bentleys' continued the marque's sporting associations. The 'Silent Sportscar', as it was quickly dubbed, had few peers and as a tireless long-distance tourer, it combined traditional Rolls-Royce refinement with Bentley performance and handling. In 1936 the 4¼ litre model was offered with more power than the 3½ litre while retaining the well-proven chassis and servo-assisted brakes.

This delightfully handsome Derby Bentley has coachworks by Park Ward and is finished in the striking colour combination of Primrose and black with beige leather interior. The first owner of the car was the A-list actor Sir Ralph Richardson who starred in the films Dr. Zhivago and The Battle of Britain, a painting of Sir Ralph comes with the car. A recent front suspension overhaul costing over £8,000 has been carried out to ensure she rides beautifully on the road. This Bentley started immediately when requested and the 4¼ litre engine sounded superb, we are advised she drives exceptionally well on the road with brakes that function correctly and radiator slats that operate as they should via a thermostat and mechanical lever that open the slats to aid temperature cooling as and when required. This Park Ward Sports Saloon has a sunroof allowing the sun to flood in to both front and rear passengers. The brightwork is in exceptional condition as is the interior. The paintwork has a couple of blemishes although nothing that detracts from the presence of this magnificent Derby Bentley, for a car that is 84 years old the condition is remarkable. Supplied with a V5C registration document, there are four history folders with many receipts for work carried out. There is also a full set of workshop manuals and driver’s handbook, together with a copy of the factory build sheets. This well looked after example can be used reliably and with confidence.
Viewing is recommended to appreciate the quality of this iconic Bentley.

1967 RENAULT 10 ALCONI - BARONS CLASSIC CAR AUCTIONS 24th September 2021 at Sandown Park Racecourse

              OUR FEATURED AUCTION

BARONS CLASSIC CAR AUCTIONS
24th September 2021 at Sandown Park Racecourse

Jaguar Heritage, Classic and Sports Cars Sale

1967 RENAULT 10 ALCONI
Registration No: To Be Registered
Chassis No: 6610748
MOT & Tax Exempt
Colour: Blue
Guide Price £13,500-£17,000

The Renault Alconi was a performance version of the Renault 8 and 10 sold by Renault (Africa) Ltd, a subsidiary of the French Regie Renault Factory. They were sold new through the Renault dealer network in South Africa between 1965 and 1970 and came with a full factory warranty. The concept was intended to increase car sales to a racing mad South African public by taking advantage of their race-track successes in local "Sprint" and "Endurance" races. A total of 458 factory Alconis were made, along with hundreds of conversion kits to allow owners to modify their existing cars, but only the official cars were supplied with ‘Alconi’ badges on the front wing.

The car was developed specifically for the motorsport-mad South African market and was the brainchild of John Conchie and Eric 'Puddles' Adler, who traded as "Alconi Developments" – a mixture of their surnames. It helped Renault increase its sales in SA and also market a whole range of Alconi performance upgrades, making the car something of a legend in its home market where R10 Touring Cars had won a series of production car championships.

Production of the Alconi started in batches of 50 R10s. Standard R10s were marketed with the Renault 1108cc Caravelle engine, with slightly better performance from a twin-choke Weber carburettor. The production Alconis used the same upgrade kit on the newer R10 1108cc engine but retained the production carburettor, and the vehicle was slightly lower (1 inch) than its standard brother.  Colour choices were initiated: Alconi blue with white flashes down the sides, Red with white flashes and white with red flashes.  Production continued through 1967 and 1968 and possibly 1969.

A 1973 Renault 10 Alconi. This is a very rare car, 1 of 458, that was only built in South Africa, and as quick as a 1300cc Renault 10 Gordini. This car has just come in from South Africa and is in very good condition having had a concours re-build 15 years ago. There is a copy of a letter by the original owner who owned it from new until 2005, and there seems to have been only two other owners, in which he lists its early history and specification. It appears that the engine was bored out from its original 1106cc to 1206cc, a "hot 701 camshaft" fitted, the twin-choke Weber was uprated from a 32 to a 36, a tubular exhaust fitted, and adjustable shock absorbers (probably Koni) fitted all round.

1967 MG 1100 - BARONS AUCTIONEERS Sandown Park Racecourse Portsmouth Rd, Esher KT10 9AJ Tuesday 30th April 2019

FEATURED AUCTION

BARONS AUCTIONEERS
Sandown Park Racecourse
Portsmouth Rd, Esher KT10 9AJ
Tuesday 30th April 2019

1967 MG 1100
ONLY 27,500 MILES RECORDED FROM NEW

Registration No: GFV 902E
Chassis No: GAS53/111263
Guide Price: £6,000 - £8,500

The Morris 1100 was launched on 15 August 1962. The range was expanded to include several rebadged versions, including the twin-carburettor MG 1100 (introduced at the end of September 1962), the Austin 1100 (August 1963), the Vanden Plas Princess 1100 (October 1963) and finally the Wolseley 1100 (1965) and Riley Kestrel (1965). The Morris badged 1100/1300 models were discontinued on the launch of the Morris Marina in 1971, but the Austin and Vanden Plas versions remained in production in the UK until June 1974.

There are only 149 examples of the MG1100 known to still exist with the DVLA and this must be the best original one left. The mileage is warranted and it comes with the original bill of sale, as well as a copy of an article from a local newspaper dated March 1994, showing a picture of the car with the number plate visible, and its original owner with the article stating the mileage then as 21,000 miles.

Whilst it is now of course both tax and MOT exempt, it passed an MOT in December 2018 with no advisories. It drives very well with recent new tyres all round and comes with a copy of the AA handbook for 1966/67 in the glove box. The vendor states that is would make an ideal museum exhibit.

Note: This description is provided by the vendor and unless otherwise stated is 'Not Verified' by Barons or any person employed by Barons. Prospective purchasers are advised to satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of any statements made, whether they be statements of fact or opinion.
