ASCOT RACECOURSE

1959 JAGUAR Mk2 3.4 M/OD

Registration - UK Registered
Chassis No: 150060DN
Engine No - KG12308
Estimate - £18,000 - £24,000

Synonymous with the swinging `60s and the hit TV Series Inspector Morse, the Mk. II was undoubtedly the most admired saloon to emanate from Jaguar's hallowed Browns Lane factory. These cars punched well above their weight. Equipped with either a 3.4 litre or 3.8 engine, the Jaguar was capable of sprinting to 60mph in as little as 8.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 125mph.

This lovely 3.4 manual with overdrive example of a Jaguar Mk. II is an, all English, matching numbers example supplied with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Originally presented in Pearl Grey with red trim, this car was dispatched to H.A. Browett & Co in Leicester on 20th October 1959 before being registered to its first owner, a Mr. Bieshuvel of Blaby, Leicestershire. Boasting large amounts of expenditure, in 1998 the car was sent to Ridgeway Sportscars who prepared the car for the Monte Carlo challenge, upgrading certain parts of the suspension at a cost of £4,330.93. Found within the comprehensive history file are details of a full bare metal restoration, photographs and a breakdown of costs totalling £23,396.85 and, from 1991 through to 2001 restoration work with A.M. Services totalling £5,407.47 and works at Flowers Jaguar interiors costing £2,905.48.

Since 2001, the car changed owners and was again repainted to the owner’s preference of red coachwork. We are informed that, in 2007, an engine rebuild was completed and a 4.2 straight port cylinder head fitted with reworked fancy cams and twin two-inch SU carburettors. A louvered bonnet was fitted and the interior benefitted from new carpets. Having been passed from one Jaguar enthusiast to another which can be found from membership applications, this car is offered with its Jaguar Heritage Production Record Trace Certificate, an original Jaguar sales and service booklet, operating and maintenance service handbook and a UK V5 registration certificate. We certainly recommend viewing of this lovely example of a Jaguar Mk. II boasting performance upgrades.

1976 Ford Escort Mk2 RS2000 Group 1 Rally Car - BONHAMS AUCTIONS Goodwood Revival Sale Saturday 14th September 2019 Goodwood Circuit, Chichester

FEATURED AUCTION

.BONHAMS AUCTIONS
Goodwood Revival Sale
Saturday 14th September 2019
Goodwood Circuit, Chichester

1976 Ford Escort Mk2 RS2000 Group 1 Rally Car

Registration no. SCA 227P
Chassis no. GCATSL86849
*Purpose-built rally car from new

*Ex-Ford Finland
*Driven by Timo Mäkinen, Antero Laine, Lasse Lampi, and Kyösti Hämäläinen
*Finnish Historic Rally Championship winner in 2011 and 2012

  • It was the Escort that really put Ford on the rallying map, proving capable of winning World Championship events from 1968 when the Twin Cam model was the works' frontline rally car, right through to 1981 when Ari Vatanen became World Rally Champion driving an Escort RS. Ford customers could choose between GT and 1.6-litre Twin Cam or - later on - RS1600 and Mexico models. Manufactured at Ford's Advanced Vehicles Operations plant, the latter pair were closely related, the Mexico being, in effect, an RS1600 fitted with a 1.6-litre OHV Kent engine in place of the RS1600's 16-valve Cosworth BDA. Both models had shortcomings: the Mexico being not fast enough for many while the 'homologation special' RS1600, although very quick, was expensive to produce and required careful maintenance. The answer lay in a new model: the RS2000. Powered by the 2.0-litre single-overhead camshaft Pinto engine, the RS2000 was a huge success, proving quicker than the Mexico and easier to live with than the RS1600.

This beautiful Ford Escort RS2000 Mk2 has played a prominent role in Ford's impressive rallying history. It has been a purpose-built rally car for its entire life, mainly contesting major rallies in Finland. This impressive history has been fully documented since 1977, including all rally results and who drove the car. The latter includes true masters of the sport such as Timo Makinen, Antero Laine, Lasse Lampi, and Kyosti Hamalainen, who drove this Escort to podium finishes on numerous occasions as a privateer on behalf of Ford Finland (results list on file).

The Escort was completely rebuilt in 2010 in accordance with the Group 1 regulations. A valid Historical Technical Passport is present and all special parts are homologated. The result of this painstaking preparation is reflected in its winning the Finnish Historic Rally Championship in 2011 and 2012. Equipped with Weber 44IDF carburettors, a big-bore exhaust manifold, Group 1 camshaft, and larger valves, the engine produces 152bhp engine. The gearbox is a four-speed Rocket unit, while the Atlas rear axle is equipped with a ZF limited-slip differential and a 4.63:1 crown wheel/pinion. The special suspension features Bilstein 300/70 struts.

The Ford Escort is the perfect rally car because it is well balanced and therefore easy to drift. This car is potentially competitive in all types of rallies, whether they are held on snow and ice, tarmac, or the desert sands.

1961 MGA 1600 Mk2 - Morris Leslie Vehicle Auctions Ltd Saturday17th August 2019 Errol Airfield Perth Scotland PH27TB

FEATURED AUCTION

Website: http://www.morrisleslie.com

1961 MGA 1600 Mk2
Estimate: £22,000 - £25,000.

Chassis number: GHN2102052 - This MkII example we are informed has the following background. Originally this car was dispatched new to its first owner in Ardrossan, Ayrshire in August 1961, possibly having been supplied by the Ayr branch of MG distributors 'A & D Fraser'. Over the early years of the car, its changed ownership a few times until in 1965 when a Glasgow gentleman, who we believe worked as an Aero Engineer, purchased the car and used it as his everyday mode of transport, as well as some continental trips, including one trip to Monte Carlo. That owner kept the car for 13 years and sold it in 1978 to a fellow Aero Engineer and the car moved to Dundee. After purchasing the car in 1978 and owning it for 30 years, that Dundee owner then sold is back to his fellow engineer in 2008, still with less than 50,000 miles on the clock. Business and family commitments meant the vehicle seen very little use, until 2015, when the person who we believe has provided the story of this MGA, purchased it for himself, who only covered 700 miles in 3 years of ownership. To which we believe it was then sold on to the current owner and vendor in late 2018. We are further informed, this vehicle still has the original hood, tonneau cover, sliding exterior door handles and door locks fitted from new, and an ASM branded luggage rack. The current owner and vendor has covered approximately 700 miles in 8 months with the example and also personally drove the car 70 to be with us at Errol. Further benefitting from some early photographs and a current MOT.
