1999 [1989] Royale Sabre
Registration No: G942 BBM
Chassis No:  RS1297021
Guide Price: £12,000 - £15,000

  • Offered with 3 folders of documentation including built instructions, wiring diagrams, spare parts list and invoices totalling over £15,000
  • Displays just 2 former keepers on the V5 Document

The Royale Motor Co was founded by one of the UK’s foremost kit car design talents, John Barlow, in 1990. His second model, the Sabre appeared in 1994. This was a sporty two-seater convertible with the chassis and drive technology of the Ford Scorpio or Sierra. From this model, which was offered by other manufacturers have recently emerged so far about 260 copies

Completed in June 1999, G942 BBM was created as a homage to the Delahaye 135M Cabriolet and was initially based on a 1989 Ford Sierra 2.0 GL with 5spd manual gearbox and features 2 pack polyurethane acrylic paint with flexible additives to reduce crazing. The vehicle received further improvements in November 2000 with the use of parts from a 1990 Ford Sierra GLS including a DOHC injected engine, power steering and all-around disc brakes.

G942 BBM has recently benefited from the radiator being re-cored in May 2021 and is offered alongside 3 folders of documentation including built instructions, wiring diagrams, spare parts list and invoices totalling over £15,000. In addition, the vehicle is registered as a Royale Convertible on the V5 document, which also shows just 2 former keepers. The vendor rates the condition of the bodywork, engine, electrical equipment, paintwork, transmission and gearbox and interior trim all as ‘Very Good.'

1999 Lotus Esprit Sport 350 - Silverstone Auctions Silverstone Circuit (The Wing Building, NN12 8TN) Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August

Welcome back to Classic Chatter and our look at what is coming to auction in the UK.
It's been a difficult time for everyone over the last 18 months but the future looks better and we all hope normality is just around the corner.

OUR FEATURED AUCTION

Silverstone Auctions
Silverstone Circuit (The Wing Building, NN12 8TN)
Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August

1999 Lotus Esprit Sport 350
Lot No  595
Registration No: T815 KLE
Chassis No: SCCDA0824XHC15690
Engine No: LL918981230200
Body Colour: Aluminium Metallic
GUIDE PRICE: £ Offered Without Reserve

  • This is Number 5 of only 48 examples built
  • Lightweight bodyshell and magnesium Crono OZ wheels
  • The Sport 350 was 85kg lighter than the V8 GT on which it was based
  • 350bhp, 3.5-litre, flat-plane crank, twin-turbo V8. 0-60 in 4.7 seconds
  • Finished in New Aluminium Metallic with carbon fibre, GT1-style rear wing
  • c47,000 miles with a full engine rebuild in recent years
  • Supplied with a Lotus Certificate of Provenance and a V5 on the way
  • In superb condition, immaculate, inside and out

The Sport 350 was arguably the most exclusive of all Esprit models, with only 48 manufactured between 1999 and 2001. In common with many other innovative designs from Lotus' drawing office, increased performance was achieved by weight reduction and, thanks to both a lightweight bodyshell and special magnesium Crono OZ wheels shod with Pirelli P Zero tyres, the Sport 350 was 85kg lighter than the V8 GT on which it was based. Retardation was aided by larger AP Racing discs all-round plus 4-pot callipers on the front. The suspension utilised Monroe 65 dampers, stiffer springs and an uprated anti-roll bar. Most examples were finished in Silver and featured a carbon fibre, GT1-style rear wing, 'Sport 350' graphics on the doors and sill plates, hip-hugging seats with Black bolsters and Blue Alcantara facings, with further touches of Blue throughout the passenger compartment and engine bay. With 350bhp available from the 3.5-litre, flat-plane crank, twin-turbo V8 and 60mph arriving in 4.7 seconds, the Sport 350 is a seriously quick motor car.

From Richard Hammond's personal collection, this stunning example is Number #5 of the 48 cars produced and is finished in New Aluminium Metallic. It has covered some 47,000 miles and, we understand is absolutely immaculate. It appears that the engine was rebuilt in recent years. It's supplied with a Lotus Certificate of Provenance and we believe the V5 is on the way.

FEATURED AUCTION

HISTORICS AUCTIONEERS
Ascot Racecourse Sale
Saturday 7th March 2020
Ascot Racecourse, High Street, Ascot SL5 7JX

1999 PLYMOUTH PROWLER
Registration No: T647 MLC
Chassis No: 1P3EW65G4XV503251
Engine No: TPTE1054903915
Guide Price: £38,000 - £45,000

  • Only 1,304 miles from new
  • Comes with a Plymouth trailer
The design of the Prowler was said to have been inspired after Chrysler engineers were given free reign to create whatever they wanted in a ‘hot rod’ or ‘Sportster’ type vehicle. One of the most striking design features of the Prowler is the open, Indy racer style front wheels. Although he is officially un-accredited, car designer Chip Foose's Chrysler sponsored a senior project car at Pasadena's ArtCenter College of Design, which he dubbed the ‘Hemisfear’ and evolved into the Prowler. While criticized for featuring a V6, the engine produced nearly as much torque as a V8. Prowler's lightweight translated into very impressive performance figures, including off-the-line acceleration. The car prominently featured aluminium in its construction, chiefly in the chassis. In many cases, the components were adhesively bonded. The body was produced in Shadyside, Ohio, and the car was assembled by hand at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit, Michigan.
This particular example was manufactured in 1999 and first registered in the UK in 2015. The mileage of 1,304 is warranted and the condition is certainly commensurate of such a low mileage example, she really is like brand new. Described by the vendor as being great to drive, this Plymouth Prowler is finished in stunning red, with contrasting black leather trim. Automatic transmission contributes towards making this the ultimate alfresco cruising machine. The car is supplied with a matching Plymouth trailer, car cover and the original launch CD ‘Story of Prowler’. A V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until February 2021 also accompany this Plymouth together with the original book pack, a full set of keys and the original Certificate of Title.

1999 BMW Z3M COUPE - COYS AUCTIONS The Spirit of Motoring Sale Syon Park, Brentford, Middlesex, TW8 8JF Saturday 19th October 2019

FEATURED AUCTION

COYS AUCTIONS
The Spirit of Motoring Sale
Syon Park, Brentford, Middlesex, TW8 8JF
Saturday 19th October 2019

1999 BMW Z3M COUPE

ESTIMATE £25,000- £30,000

The Z3 M Coupe, or BMW ‘Breadvan’ or “Clown Shoe” as many refer to it was very much an oddball and all the better for it, the Z3 M Coupe follows no model lineage and wasn’t replaced when production ceased, but what a wonderful hiccup in the corporate product line this car was. Here was a BMW that sent a high voltage shock through the normally slick but slightly conservative BMW range of the time. The lead engineer for the M Coupe, Burkhard Gosche, must have been very influential and smooth of speech to gain approval from the BMW Board of Directors. After all, the ingredients were unorthodox, to say the least. Take the Z3 roadster, turn it into a fixed head coupe with a hatchback, drop in an E36 M3 engine and make sure it was a cost-effective to produce. No easy task for BMW Motorsport division at the time.
Offered in the most desirable colour combination of Estoril Blue with black leather and blue inserts, this S50 Z3M Coupe has covered 58,000 miles from new.
The vendor has owned the car since 2013 and located the car after a search for an enthusiast owned example. The history file shows of £13,000 of invoices including notice of the VANOS recall, where the correct factory modifications completed.
A comprehensive service history is complete with the car by way of a stamped service booklet.
The car is offered with an MoT test certificate valid until January 2020 which importantly was obtained with no advisories. This example of this BMW is presented in very good order throughout and given the low mileage is certainly a sought after car. The vendor goes on to confirm that the paintwork and interior of the car are in excellent condition, the alloy wheels are unmarked with virtually brand new tyres and this 3 Litre beast is extremely tight to drive and delivers plenty of power!
Estimate: £25,000 – £30,000
€29,000 – €33,000
$31,000 – $36,000
