2002 ASTON MARTIN VANQUISH - COYS AUCTIONS Blenheim Palace Sale Saturday 29th June 2019

FEATURED AUCTION

COYS AUCTIONS
Blenheim Palace Sale
Saturday 29th June 2019
 Woodstock OX20 1PP

2002 ASTON MARTIN VANQUISH
Developed from the 1998 Project Vantage concept car, the V12 Vanquish entered production in 2001. The Vanquish marked a large step in the company’s engineering featuring a bonded aluminium chassis combined with many pieces of traditional craftsmanship, ushering in a new era for Aston Martin.
This beautiful example was supplied new on 30th April 2002, finished in the rare and desirable AML Racing Green Metallic with green/cream Connolly leather upholstery, headlining
and soft trimmed panels in Alcantara. The specification was extensive and is available upon request.

In current ownership since 2010, the Vanquish was converted immediately at the Newport Pagnell works to the highly coveted 6-speed manual gearbox transmission, at a cost of £23,379 at 53,000 miles. The Vanquish has now covered just 58,000 miles, supported by full and comprehensive Aston Martin Factory and Main Dealer service history. We note there are 11 stamps in the Service Book, with the last service by Stratstone in London at 57,747 miles. At 58,171 miles a completely new exhaust system and new accelerator pedal was fitted (at a cost of £11,328), since which time the car has been dry stored and used sparingly.
Finished in possibly the most desirable colour scheme for the Vanquish, very much reminiscent of the works DB4 GT Zagatos of the 1960s, this is a very collectable choice that can also be driven and enjoyed all year round.

Much has been written about the Austin Seven, the 747cc side valve 4 cylinder engine, the wheelbase of 6’3” (6’9” from late 1931) and the overall length of just 10’6” usually. The ‘jewels’ in the model range include the Ruby, the Pearl and as offered here, the Opal.
Designed as a tourer for two persons, the Opal turns heads and creates a throng of enthusiasts when parked, perhaps because of its relative rarity. As with all Sevens, it is light and easy to drive and has a modest performance with little thirst. Repairs tend to be simple and spare parts plentiful, due to the excellent support from the Owner’s Club. Even if a breakdown should occur, there is a sporting chance that a roadside fix will be possible, as against the average ‘modern’ where there is little point in even opening the bonnet. The fuel for a Seven flows sometimes by gravity from a scuttle mounted tank to the carburettor, although later models have a simple pump. Turning on the ignition will produce a spark, which at some stage can be made to appear in the correct place, so that a journey can be resumed quite easily.
DPK 160 is part of a private collection and appears to be generally good, with tidy bodywork and interior. The hood is a little tired but for the amount of use likely, is quite adequate. Mechanically all looks present and correct but as no battery is fitted, we can only recommend that a period of re-commissioning is carried out once the motor car is safely home. Please note that side screens are not supplied.
The motor car is offered with the V5C registration certificate, an older V5 document, showing the Austin was acquired by the current family in November 1997, plus various invoices and old MOT test certificates. The motor car is currently on SORN.
Addendum: RF60 and VE60 registration books are also supplied.

  • Only 17,000 miles in eight years
  • Fully trimmed in leather
The London Taxi Corporation Ltd (trading as The London Taxi Company; formerly Manganese Bronze Holdings plc) is an automotive engineering company headquartered in Coventry, United Kingdom, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Chinese automaker Geely. It was founded in 1899 and its principal activity is the design, development and production of taxicabs. Over 130,000 London black cabs have been produced at the London Taxi Company's Coventry site over the past 60 years. Annual production averaged between 2,000 and 2,500 units per year. Around two-thirds of production goes into London via a dealership in Islington.
This London Taxi is a one owner vehicle and was used by a London hotel very sparingly, hence the 17,000 miles covered in eight years. She is finished in blue with a white roof and is trimmed in tan leather throughout, including the driver's seat. Fitted with the very long legged Mercedes-Benz 2.5 litre diesel engine, this Taxi has an automatic transmission and as always with these vehicles, they are easy to drive and offer great versatility. Presenting in virtually unmarked condition with a V5C registration document together with an MoT test certificate valid until 27th June 2019, this is a unique opportunity to purchase a well trimmed and low mileage London Taxi TX4.
