FEATURED AUCTION

Thursday 12th September 2019

1982 RANGE ROVER EFi
Chassis No: SALLHABV2AA129090
Estimate: £20,000 - £30,000

The Range Rover was greeted enthusiastically by both press and public on its arrival in 1970, offering comfortable cruising at 90mph and a greater off-road capability than most of its customers would ever need. The fact that the original lasted in production for an amazing 24 years before being replaced in 1994 only serves to illustrate the soundness of the original concept. Indeed, the ‘old’ Range Rover – evocatively renamed Range Rover Classic – did not disappear immediately but continued to be built for another year alongside the new version.
This particular vehicle offered for sale is this beautifully authentic 1982 Range Rover. The car was purchased from a vendor in Barcelona where it had spent its life since new and as such, the structural condition is quite astounding. Experts who have viewed the car have commented that they have seldom seen examples with this level of untouched originality.

Following import, the car has been entrusted to the world-renowned and respected Range Rover specialist Twenty-Ten Engineering. The car was treated to a full and thorough recommissioning process, which involved paint rectification, upholstery re-trimmed with rare original materials where necessary, and any parts required regardless of expense throughout the whole car.
The Range Rover performs faultlessly in all respects. The smooth-running V8, the succinct gearbox and the overall feeling of quality that can only come with the thoughtful and considered planning that recommissioning a unique example such as this demands and deserves. With 12 months valid MOT alongside an exceptional level of originality and reliability, this iconic classic is ready to enjoy immediately.

1969 ALFA ROMEO JUNIOR ZAGATO - COYS AUCTIONS Fontwell House Sale Chichester Thursday 12th September 2019

FEATURED AUCTION

COYS AUCTIONS

Chichester
Thursday 12th September 2019

1969 ALFA ROMEO JUNIOR ZAGATO
Chassis No: AR1800472

Alfa Romeo produced just 402 Zagato Coachbuilt examples of the 1600 Junior Z between 1972 and 1975, of which just 121 cars are known to exist in the Zagato Register. As with its predecessor the Giulietta SZ, Zagato chose to base its new coupe on an Alfa Spider chassis rather than a GT chassis to take advantage of its lighter weight, shorter wheelbase and shorter front and rear overhangs. Zagato created a low drag aerodynamic fastback coupe featuring a very low frontal area, low roofline and fastback profile. As with its predecessor the Giulietta SZ, weight was minimized with several characteristic Zagato features such as an aluminium hood, ultra-lightweight bumpers, unique lightweight Zagato seats and a special lightweight dashboard devoid of a glove box door. With bespoke Zagato features throughout including an electrically elevating rear hatch for low drag flow-through ventilation and construction taking place at both Alfa Romeo and the Zagato coachworks, the Junior Z proved very expensive to produce resulting in just 402 examples being produced as compared to 3,917 Alfa Romeo Montreal.

This lovely 1300 Junior Zagato is one of a limited number of examples known to be registered worldwide. This well presented low mileage Zagato was restored from the shell up, later becoming the Alfa Romeo Owner Club Concours winner in 1990 & 1991. The leather interior is supplied from specialist Uptons of Hastings, whilst an uprated limited-slip differential helps keep the power on the road. Finished in the glorious shade of Alfa Rosso 501, and offered with a current UK MoT and UK V5 document, this lovely example would be pride-of-place for any Alfa collection.

1936 FORD MODEL Y VAN - COYS AUCTIONS Fontwell House Sale Chichester Thursday 12th September 2019

FEATURED AUCTION

Chichester
Thursday 12th September 2019

1936 FORD MODEL Y VAN
The Model Y was produced by Ford Britain, Ford SAF and Ford Germany from 1932 to 1937. It was the first Ford automobile specifically designed for markets outside the United States, replacing the Model A in Europe. It was powered by a 933cc 8bhp Ford side-valve engine. The little Ford was available in two- and four-door versions. In June 1935, a reduced specification two-door model was the only closed-body car ever to sell in Britain for just £100, a price it held until July 1937.
The suspension was by the traditional Ford transverse leaf springs front and rear and the engine drove the rear wheels through a three-speed gearbox which, right from the start, featured synchromesh between the top two ratios. The maximum speed was just under 60mph and fuel consumption was 32 miles per imperial gallon.
Even by the standards of the time, the UK-built Ford 8, like its major competitor the Austin 7, was found noteworthy for its “almost unbelievable lack of brakes.”

This wonderful example, showing a mere 46,000 miles from new, was restored about 20 years ago with a full body-off restoration, new ash frame for the rear van section, new exterior metal panels and new rear doors. The trim was also refreshed at this time and the van has only been used a few times on the road, spending its 30 years of current ownership in a dehumidified garage. A charming van that would be most suitable for advertising, small business ownership or simply to admire in a collection.

1979 MINI 1100 SPECIAL - COYS AUCTIONS Fontwell House Sale Chichester Thursday 12th September 2019

FEATURED AUCTION

COYS AUCTIONS
Fontwell House Sale
Chichester
Thursday 12th September 2019

1979 MINI 1100 SPECIAL
Chassis No: XC2SIN655359
Estimate: £4,000 - £6,000

The 1100 Special was launched in August 1979 to celebrate the Mini’s 20th anniversary. Unlike most that came before, the 1100 Special was cosmetically and mechanically upgraded. Powering the car was a 1,098cc Clubman-specification engine, pushing out 45bhp and 57lb ft – and was the only non-Haynes fronted Mini to benefit from the 1100.
Visually, the 1100 Special was spot-on. It boasted metallic paint in either silver or rose, graduated stripes, wheel arch extensions and standard-fit alloys. Inside, it was equipped with the 1275GT’s instrument pack and full-depth centre console. Contemporary advertising put it so well (underneath a very fetching interior shot) with its pithy tag-line, ‘You take the Daimler dear, I’ll drive the Mini’.
In the end, 5100 were built after the initial planned run of 2500 sold out in double-quick time, forcing BL to run off an additional 2600.
This lovely and highly original Mini Special was bought by the current vendor on 24th November 1979, in 1984 the car was transferred to her father before going back into her name in 2001. Lovingly maintained and boasting all its original features, this is truly a time machine back to 1979 and would be a superb addition to any collection.
