2020 FORD MUSTANG 55 EDITION CS800 - HISTORICS AUCTIONS Saturday 25th September 2021 Ascot Racecourse, High Street, Ascot Berkshire SL5 7JX

OUR FEATURED AUCTION
HISTORICS AUCTIONS
Saturday 25th September 2021
Ascot Racecourse, High Street, Ascot
Berkshire SL5 7JX

2020 FORD MUSTANG 55 EDITION CS800
Registration No: FL70 FOC
Chassis No: 1FA6P8NF0L5116894
Engine No: 5116894
Guide Price: £75,000-£95,000

Delivery and development miles only
Huge specification with £39,000 of upgrades
850bhp, 0-60 in under three seconds
Full Ford and Clive Sutton warranties

The sixth-generation Mustang was unveiled on 5th December 2013, in Michigan, New York, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Shanghai and Sydney with the internal project code name S-550. With three engine options, a newly developed 2.3 litre EcoBoost 310bhp four-cylinder, a 3.7 litre 300bhp V6 or 5.0 litre Coyote 435hp V8, with either a Getrag six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

A new independent rear suspension (IRS) system was developed specifically for the new model. It also became the first version factory designed as a right hand drive export model to be sold overseas through Ford new car dealerships in right hand drive markets. The 2018 Mustang engine line up was revised with the 5.0 litre V8 receiving a power increase to 460hp and 420 lb ft of torque. The automatic transmission in both engines is now a ten speed Ford 10R80. The 2020 model year saw the re-introduction of the GT500. The 2020 GT500 included a hand-built 5.2 litre ‘Predator’ aluminium-alloy V8 engine with a 2.65 litre roots-type supercharger. The Shelby GT500 produces 760hp and 625 lb ft of torque but the GT350 was discontinued at the end of the 2020 model year.

With little more than delivery mileage, this ‘as new’ 55 edition example is presented in Velocity Blue and was first registered to our vendor on 13th October 2020; this however, was just the start of the ownership story and certainly not the end. Whilst purchasing the car from the dealership our vendor asked about further upgrades that might be available, bearing in mind the car was already specified with front and rear witness cameras, a 55 Edition rear spoiler, MagneRide adaptive suspension and full Ebony leather. The dealership pointed him in the direction of arguably the country’s leading specialist, Clive Sutton, in London who was duly commissioned and set upon the conversion from 55 edition specification to full CS800 specification, details of which can be found below. A car that cost £49,000 from the Ford dealership was suddenly treated to nearly £40,000 of Ford recognised upgrades. With the Ford warranty still valid it has been transformed from a sports car to a car that could challenge a super or even a hyper car. Boasting a guaranteed 830bhp but achieving 850bhp on a dyno test, it is believed even that could be surpassed after running in the engine together with a claimed under three seconds 0-62 and a top speed of over 200 mph. Clive Sutton’s performance packages are considered the very best and the CS800 is the top package available. Offered with a warranty from both Ford (for the standard car items) and from Clive Sutton for the CS800 Package this is as good as buying a brand new bespoke CS800 without the wait.

Having waited a good eight months during lockdown, our vendor was full of excitement for the car, visiting the factory and showroom at numerous stages. Clive Suttons also used this very car for a PR photoshoot and video. Further PR surrounding the CS800 can be found here;

  • A special-edition 599 GTB built to celebrate 60 years of F1 wins and named after Fernando Alonso
  • Based on the HGTE package, including the stiffer springs, recalibrated shock absorbers, lowered ride height and optimised tyres
  • Only 40 built-in total, all finished in Rosso F1 Storico paint with unique 20-inch diamond-cut alloys wheels and Scuderia Ferrari badging
  • Bespoke Alonso interior with carbon-fibre trim, Alcantara-covered Sabelt bucket seats and red and blue harnesses
  • This lovely example was first registered by Gaudual Sport S.A.S. Ferrari France June 2012 as a demonstrator. Purchased by its first owner in France on 14th February 2013
  • Imported to the UK in early 2017 and has remained in our vendor’s significant collection since
  • Just 8,000 miles with a full Ferrari service history in France and the UK. Currently on a NOVA
In 2004, Ferrari entered a new era in styling with the mid-engined F430 and followed that success with the front-engined 599GTB in 2006. Dramatic, aggressive and beautiful, the 599’s styling was some of the most harmonious in a front-engined Ferrari since the Daytona, redefining the ideal with a sharply defined shape and organically sculpted details. The cabin’s pronounced rearward placement allowed the 599 GTB’s naturally aspirated, fuel-injected 6.0-litre/611bhp V-12 to be positioned far back in the car’s chassis, resulting in excellent front-rear balance. The optional F1-Superfast 6-speed transmission was designed to change gear in as little as 100 milliseconds, approaching actual F1 levels meaning that the 599 GTB could launch from 0 to 60 MPH in 3.7 seconds and continue accelerating hard up to 205 MPH. Like the Maranello that preceded it, the 599 GTB’s electronically controlled adjustable suspension could be programmed for various driving conditions, but response time was increased almost fourfold with the switch from electric motors to magnetorheological shock absorbers. The 599’s interior was voluptuously sculpted and a wonderful blend of leather and carbon fibre with seats that were clearly inspired by those of the Daytona.
In December 2011, Ferrari announced a special-edition 599 GTB to celebrate 60 years of F1 wins. Endowed with the HGTE-model’s tougher suspension, shorter springs and stiffer anti-roll bars, the Alonso Edition, named after the legendary Ferrari F1 driver Fernando Alonso, was distinguished by a special colour scheme inspired by the 375 Formula One car from the 1950s, combining a red body (Rosso F1 Storico) with white highlights on the side skirts, front bumper and roof, unique 20-inch diameter diamond-finished alloy wheels, and Scuderia Ferrari badging. The interior was also unique with extensive use of carbon fibre and Alcantara-covered Sabelt bucket seats (Recaro in the US) with red and blue harnesses, red stitching and Prancing Horse headrest embroidery. Only 40 of these Alonso Final Editions were produced and, naturally, have disappeared into collections all over the world so rarely come to market.
This lovely example was first registered by Gaudual Sport S.A.S. Ferrari France in June 2012 as a demonstrator prior to being purchased by its first owner in France on 14th February 2013. The service records with the car indicate that it was serviced twice by Gauduel Ferrari on 26th February 2014 at 5,700 km and on 11th February 2015 at 12,509 km.
It was imported into the UK in early 2017 and has remained in our vendor’s significant collection ever since, being used sparingly but nevertheless serviced by Maranello Egham on 31st March 2017 at 13,507km and again by Dick Lovett Ferrari in Swindon on 13th March 2018 at 13,772km. The car has not been registered in the UK and is currently on a NOVA. With one owner in France and one owner in the UK, although never registered in the UK, technically the car is one registered keeper from new.

2012 marked the end of production of the very successful 599GTB and this farewell special-edition is a worthy departure. With only 40 ever built, it’s unlikely that they will appear very often, making this immaculate, 8,000-mile example with a full Ferrari service history, worth serious consideration.

2009 MERCEDES BENZ SL65 AMG BLACK EDITION - COYS AUCTIONS Saturday 3rd August 2019 Schloss Dyck, 41363 Jüchen, Germany

FEATURED AUCTION

COYS AUCTIONS
Saturday 3rd August 2019
Schloss Dyck, 41363 Jüchen, Germany

2009 MERCEDES BENZ SL65 AMG BLACK EDITION

AMG, now the official performance division of Mercedes-Benz, has a long history of producing high-performance derivatives of Mercedes’ standard production vehicles, and these improved versions enjoy an enthusiastic following world-wide, with prominent figures of motorsports, entertainment, sport, and business communities being counted among aficionados.
Offered here is a beautiful SL65 AMG Black Series, the third of this evocatively titled and exclusive limited-edition family that had begun with SLK55 in 2006. Intended as even more highly developed versions of Mercedes-Benz’s AMG performance models, the Black Series consists of two-seater fixed-head coupé designs only. In the case of the SL65, this meant abandoning the ‘ordinary’ version’s folding metal hardtop in favour of a fixed carbon fibre roof, which also made room for the Black Series’ retractable rear spoiler.
The SL65 AMG Black Series was unveiled at Monterey in 2008. The base-car SL65 AMG’s 6.0-litre V12 engine was retained for the Black Series, but received larger turbochargers, a bigger intercooler, a new exhaust system, and a suitably remapped ECU, resulting in an increase in maximum power to 661bhp (approximately a 10% improvement over the stock SL65 AMG) while torque went up to a mighty 738lb-ft, delivered between 2,200 and 4,200 revs. AMG’s engineers not only increased engine output but also trimmed 550 pounds off the car’s all-up weight courtesy of additional carbon fibre panels, further improving the power-to-weight ratio. The result was a 0-60mph time of 3.8 seconds, while top speed was electronically limited to 199mph. This stupendous performance reached the road via AMG’s Speedshift Plus multi-mode five-speed automatic gearbox.
As one would expect, given the Black Series raison d’être, the chassis too underwent considerable modification, featuring quicker steering, wider front and rear track, and redesigned suspension in the interests of enhanced road-holding and controllability. Mercedes-Benz recognized that many Black Series customers would wish to enjoy their cars on the racetrack (where else could one safely enjoy its performance to the full?) and thoughtfully made the multi-link suspension adjustable. The SL65 AMG Black Series rolled on AMG light-alloy wheels – 19.5” at the front, 20” at the rear – while stopping power was provided by 6-pot callipers at the front, 4-pot at the rear. Only 350 of these amazing cars were made worldwide.
This breath-taking example has covered less than 250km from new and would be a credit to any serious collection. It can only be one of a handful of these very limited production cars with such low mileage and surely presents as an excellent investment opportunity.

  • One of 300 last edition VW Beetles, the last cars to roll off the production line in Germany in 1978
  • Showing just 81 miles, never registered, correctly dry-stored and offered from a significant collection
  • Jubilee Silver metallic paintwork, untouched Marine Blue velour trim. Unbelievably 'as new'
  • Probably an unrepeatable opportunity to own a VW motoring icon presented in 'showroom' condition

The Volkswagen Beetle enjoyed staggering success for many years, and in 1972 became the best selling car ever, with total production worldwide exceeding 15 million vehicles. However, by that time, the Beetle was starting to seem dated compared with much of the modern competition, and sales were flagging. In an attempt to maintain interest in the cars, VW produced numerous special edition models during the final years of European production. These included the Jeans Beetle, City Beetle, Sun Bug and Marathon Beetle, to give just a few examples.

Despite all the special editions, with the Beetle now looking seriously dated, sales continued to decline and the last European-built car left the production line in Emden, Germany on the 19th of January, 1978, immediately taking early retirement in the Wolfsburg Auto Museum. In 1978, to mark the occasion, the final run of 300 German-manufactured, right-hand drive Beetles were all finished in the very special ‘Jubilee Silver’, a colour unique to this batch and never used on any other model year. The vehicles were each equipped with a 1200cc engine (the most famous of all), blue-corded velour trim, a flat-screen (as a nod to the past), heated rear window, fresh air blower and a handbrake dash light. Finally, a dash-mounted plaque states the vehicle's number in the sequence. Unfortunately, these seem to have been supplied to VW dealers separately from the cars, and quite a number of LEBs never received the plaques intended for them.

This example was purchased by our vendor, who at the time owned a VW franchise, the car has resided in his collection ever since and over the years has only covered 81 miles. The original purchase invoice is present within the history folder indicating a build date of 18 Nov 1977 and supplied new on 3 February 1978. It has never been registered and can only be described as ‘brand new’. As such, the car will be offered recommissioned and ready to reside, no doubt, in another significant car collection.
