FEATURED AUCTION

1989 BMW Z1 RENNSPORT
The first BMW Z1 (Z standing for Zunkuft, German for future) was shown at the 1987 Frankfurt Motor show. Initial demand was so strong that 5,000 orders were placed before production even began. The car developed by BMW Technik GmbH featured a unique door arrangement where the doors, instead of opening outward, dropped down into the car’s sills.
The chassis was specially designed for the Z1 and features a number of innovative features: removable body panels; continuously zinc welded seams; a composite undertray; as well as the unusual dropped doors. Parts of the car (including the engine, gearbox, and front suspension) were borrowed from the BMW E30 325i, but the Z1 remains largely original. The 6 cylinders 2.5-litre engine was borrowed from the already highly successful BMW E30 325i and this, coupled to the fact that the body of the car was constructed from lightweight composite materials, giving the car adequate performance. Some 8,000 examples were produced between 1988 and 1991 when production ceased.
What we have on offer today is a unique example, the only one known worldwide and has been used in several BMW displays in 2016 to commemorate 100 Years of BMW. The engine is a newly tuned 2.5L 6-cylinder engine having covered just 500km.

The car also has a list of unique options that include; a closed aluminium underbody protection, unique and original Z1 Lorenz front Spoiler, 5 speed gearbox, G-Powered RBS exhaust system, handmade aluminium cockpit trim, Moton adjustable shock absorbers, anti-roll bar, 3 points seat belts, cobra Monaco S Bucket seats, Fire extinguisher, BMW M3 suspension, lightweight 18 inch BBS Wheels, Roll cage, Race Strut bar (Brace), and many more special parts…
This is a rare opportunity to buy a desirable yet unusual car that not only symbolizes 100 years success of BMW, however, would also be a great car for any circuit or rally and an excellent addition to any collection.

1927 STUTZ VERTICAL EIGHT BROUGHTON - COYS AUCTIONS Saturday 3rd August 2019 Schloss Dyck, 41363 Jüchen, Germany

FEATURED AUCTION

COYS AUCTIONS
Saturday 3rd August 2019
Schloss Dyck, 41363 Jüchen, Germany

After a period of corporate instability and the departure of Harry Stutz in the early 1920s, the Stutz Motor Car Company came under the direction of Hungarian-born engineer Fredrick Moskovics. Moskovics completely redesigned the Stutz car, giving it a new eight-cylinder, overhead-cam engine, a double-drop chassis frame, a worm gear rear axle, safety glass, and four-wheel hydraulic brakes. The latter feature was noteworthy for its design. This system was termed “hydrostatic,” and it used water with an anti-freeze additive, but it was used for one year only. Although somewhat boxy in comparison to competitors, the Stutz rode several inches lower. It soon became known as the “Safety Stutz” with the “Vertical Eight” engine, which were terms that would be used for the remainder of the company’s life.
The wonderful Broughton Sedan offered here has enjoyed a “frame-off” restoration with no expense spared. As you can imagine the Stutz is presented in fabulous condition; the chrome, paint, interior and roof are all truly excellent. The Straight Eight engine runs extremely well and with plenty of power, it provides a rewarding driving experience. The Stutz has been imported into the UK with all taxes paid and is offered with its US title document.
,
Beautifully finished in regency red with a sumptuous brown leather interior, we are confident this Vertical Eight would be a splendid addition to any collection.

1958 CADILLAC ELDORADO BIARRITZ CONVERTIBLE - COYS AUCTIONS Saturday 3rd August 2019 Schloss Dyck, 41363 Jüchen, Germany

FEATURED AUCTION

COYS AUCTIONS
Saturday 3rd August 2019
Schloss Dyck, 41363 Jüchen, Germany

1958 CADILLAC ELDORADO BIARRITZ CONVERTIBLE
Cadillac’s Eldorado Brougham is the superlative automobile of the Fifties, a coachbuilt luxury car handcrafted to the highest standards and outfitted with every luxury, appointment and accessory known to Detroit at the time. Flamboyantly but tastefully styled and extravagantly expensive at $13,074, the Eldorado Brougham expressed exclusivity in every line and feature.
Beginning in 1956, the Eldorado convertible was renamed the Eldorado Biarritz. That year, it was joined by a companion two-door hardtop coupe named Eldorado Seville. Both took their names from romantic European cities; Biarritz was a fashionable French seaside resort and Seville, a fabled old city in Spain. New front-end styling for 1958 featured four-headlight illumination and a wider grille consisting of fine, jewel-like metallic studs. Chrome blades capped each front fender.
The rear remained similar to the previous year, newly updated with 10 vertical chrome trim pieces ahead of the rear wheel openings. A new, narrow “V” emblem appeared on the lower-left corner of the rear decklid with the Eldorado name spelled out in small block letters beside it. Standard equipment was a 335 bhp 365 cu. in. V-8 engine with triple two-barrel carburettors. At $7,410 before options, only 815 convertibles were produced.

Finished in the striking combination of original Tahitian Coral with a leather interior and gold trim and convertible roof, this restored Cadillac has a huge presence on the road still today. The Eldorado has excellent paint and chrome and a very clean well-appointed interior. The handcrafted soft top is also in top condition and works very well, and the Cadillac sits on nice Cadillac wire wheels fitted with whitewall tires. With power steering and brakes, this very relaxing car is possibly the perfect summer cruiser.

1950 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY COUPE - COYS AUCTIONS Saturday 3rd August 2019 Schloss Dyck, 41363 Jüchen, Germany

FEATURED AUCTION

COYS AUCTIONS
Saturday 3rd August 2019
Schloss Dyck, 41363 Jüchen, Germany

1950 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY COUPE
Representing the end of the line for Chrysler’s luxurious post-war “woodie” automobiles, the Town and Country Newport of 1950 was a one-year-only model, and it was also the only factory production “hardtop” Town and Country ever built. It utilized its own unique, all-steel body, which had decorative ash framing that was hand-formed and then applied to the assembled steel body panels and around the side panel inserts that had been painted the same as the body color. The interior was beautifully wood-trimmed, with fascinating details to be found throughout. Underneath were disc brakes, which Chrysler had first pioneered in 1949.
Offered only with the 135-horsepower Spitfire straight eight and Fluid Drive transmission, the Town and Country Newport retailed at $4,028, making it Chrysler’s most expensive car outside of the big Crown Imperial sedans. Only 698 were built, after which the luxury Town and Country, once the favourite of movie stars and country club founders, became a thing of history.
The most expensive American Coupe which you could buy at the time, the example offered today now offers much value for money in the current market. The Chrysler is in very good condition, with beautiful black paint and well-finished chrome and wood. The interior is very clean with nicely kept carpets, seats and door trim. The 5.3 litres Straight Eight engine very quietly delivers 135 bhp through a smooth-shifting transmission.
Presented very much as it would be originally, this wonderful, well-preserved Coupe is an ideal addition to any collection of classic American “woodies.”
