Owner of Bentley since 1998, Volkswagen kept in production until 2003 the convertible Azure derived from the Continental-R, but waited three years to launch its replacement. The production of the new Azure began in 2006, based this time on the base of the Arnage, more modern. The latter existed in two forms: the Green Label BMW engine and the Red Label equipped with the good old V8 tumbled Rolls-Royce / Bentley of 6.75 liters. Indeed, the battle between Volkswagen and BMW for the acquisition of Rolls-Royce / Bentley had made that the first could use the engines of its competitor only transiently, and that future models should reuse the "old" V8 Bentley, carefully upgraded with two turbos for the new Azure convertible. In addition to the two turbos that replaced the single turbo used previously, the venerable engine had been significantly reworked, and Bentley claimed that more than half of the parts were new. In this new configuration, it produced 450 horsepower and 880 Nm of torque and was mated to a new six-speed ZF automatic gearbox. Bentley claimed a 0 to 97 km / h in 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 270 km / h, slightly higher than the previous model and still remarkable for a car of this size and weight. "In a word, wonderful," was the welcome that Autocar gave to the new Azure, stating that "the new box is notoriously better, it's amazing how a good box can change the game."

Built for the American market, this magnificent Bentley Azure is the result of a special order, as evidenced by the door sill plate that mentions "Built especially for TNO" It is red St James with a beige leather interior and burgundy and chrome wheels. It is provided with all its documentation and registration certificate of Equatorial Guinea and its customs documents.

VAT, vehicle tax and customs duties at current rates will be payable on this lot if the vehicle remains in Switzerland.

2006 BENTLEY AZURE
Registration No: HF56 FXD
Chassis No:  SCBDC43H86CH11573

The Bentley Azure was launched in 1995 and based on the platform of the Continental R coupé which had been launched in 1991. Volkswagen purchased Bentley from Vickers in 1998, three years into production of the Mk.I model. Volkswagen executives decided to keep the then-current Azure in production until 2003. Production of the new Azure began for the 2006 model year. Now based on the Arnage platform, power came from the then current variant of the Bentley turbocharged V8 making 450hp and 645 lb ft of torque. New Arnage was designed for the BMW 4.4-litre engine. However, due to strained relationships between the two manufacturers, Volkswagen was forced to significantly re-work the original 6.75-litre Rolls-Royce/Bentley V8 engine in 2001, including a switch from the old single-turbo system to a modern twin-turbocharger setup, reducing turbo-lag and increasing horsepower output. A new, model-specific six-speed automatic transmission fed power to the rear wheels. Bentley claimed a 0 to 60 time of 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 168 mph, slightly faster than the previous edition and still very good for a vehicle of this size and weight.
This 2006 Bentley Azure was supplied new by Bramshaw Bentley Hampshire in Lyndhurst, New Forest. Registered in September 2006, the car received a personalised number plate of 22 TB in November of the same year which it retained until the vendor acquired the car in 2013. This Azure has only covered just over 28,000 miles from new which is confirmed by the service book and the MoT history. Finished in black with black roof and black Connolly leather interior complemented with piano black veneers, this lovely Convertible is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in March 2019 and the service book pack. The Bentley Azure is a Grand Tourer offering enormous style and luxury, whether you are going to the shops or travelling to the Côte d’Azur, this low mileage Bentley Azure is just about the perfect vehicle.
