2004 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT - HISTORICS AUCTIONEERS Saturday 21st September 2019 Mercedes Benz World Weybridge, Surrey

FEATURED AUCTION
HISTORICS AUCTIONEERS
Saturday 21st September 2019
Mercedes Benz World
Weybridge, Surrey

2004 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT
Registration No: WA04 DGV
Chassis No: SCBCE63W14C021254
Engine No: 002999
Estimate: £13,000 - £17,000

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003, the first generation Continental GT differed from previous incarnations due to it no longer being a coach-built car. However, as a result, the price at launch was significantly less than the Continental R (approximately half) which exposed the car to a much wider customer. Despite the lower price, however, the new GT was still roundly well received with celebrities, sports personalities alike buying in droves due to the six-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine with 552bhp coupled to opulent surroundings and an ultra-comfortable ride. After all, this was designed to be a mile crunching continent cruiser and with that huge W12 engine coupled to a smooth six-speed automatic box distributed by the Quattro four-wheel-drive system, it was equally at home in Mayfair as it was on the Autobahn where it was capable of an astonishing 196mph and a 0-60 time of just 4.7 seconds. The Continental offered the most comfortable way of reaching supercar speeds and, still to this day, is a fabulously capable GT.
This example of an early GT is presented in a rare colour combination of Diamond Black with Cinnamon hide. This car boasts massage and heated front seats with electric memory, Xenon headlights, satellite navigation (with European discs) and electric folding mirrors. Offered with a stamped service history booklet, the vendor describes the history as very good indeed. This example boasts the original Bentley telephone and upgraded alloy wheels. Accompanying the car is an MoT test certificate valid until May 2020. Continental GT's are an incredible value for money and combine opulence with speed like no other, this example is without a doubt very well priced and could represent fabulous value for money.

1970 TOYOTA CORONA GL COUPE - HISTORICS AUCTIONEERS Saturday 21st September 2019 Mercedes Benz World Weybridge, Surrey

FEATURED AUCTION
HISTORICS AUCTIONEERS
Saturday 21st September 2019
Mercedes Benz World
Weybridge, Surrey

1970 TOYOTA CORONA GL COUPE
Registration No: ANM 768H
Chassis No: RT72162110
Engine No: 8R6711
Estimate: NO RESERVE

The Toyota Corona was manufactured between 1957 and 2002. A competitor to Nissan's Bluebird the word 'corona' is Latin for 'crown', a reference to an earlier vehicle Toyota offered called the Toyota Crown. It was exclusive to Toyopet Store dealership channels in Japan, while the larger Crown was available only at Toyota Store locations. In many countries, the Corona was one of Toyota's first international exports and was shortly joined by the smaller Toyota Corolla, providing buyers with a choice of a larger car, with similar operating expenses to the smaller Corolla. The Corona was Toyota's second sedan in their hierarchy of products, just below the Crown, until 1968 when the Corona name was used on a larger, all-new platform called the Toyota Corona Mk. II. This gave buyers more interior space while still offering dependable and affordable performance.
This 1.9-litre coupé variant badged as the Mk. II GL is rarely seen on these shores having been imported from South Africa by our enthusiastic owner. Standing proud in metallic blue with black velour trim, this example has been recently fully recommissioned and as such the engine runs incredibly smoothly and is surprisingly quiet. Japanese workmanship was a byword for quality in the '70s, much to the frustration of the USA and it certainly shows upon firing up this Corona. Having spent most of its life in dry and warmer climates it is understandably a very solid car and, apart from a few imperfections, is a very smartly presented example. A rare and interesting car that is sure to attract attention from Japanese car collectors and enthusiasts, this is a very interesting proposition and offered without reserve.

Guide Price £6,000 - £8,000

FEATURED AUCTION

Mercedes Benz World
Weybridge, Surrey

1970 BSA THUNDERBOLT (650cc)
Registration No: TOF 502H
Frame No: XD03522
Engine No: HD10324

The BSA Thunderbolt was designed as a touring motorcycle. A traditional air-cooled 650cc, twin-cylinder with a single large-bore Amal Monobloc carburettor, it did not suffer from the same level of vibration as earlier BSA twins and could comfortably cruise at 70mph and reached over 100mph. Fitted with 12-volt electrics, a Zener diode voltage regulator and twin coil ignition, the Thunderbolt sold well. From 1968, it benefited from a number of minor improvements including a longer kick, start to make starting easier, metal tank badges and a stiffer suspension to improve cornering.
This, two former keepers example, is in stunning order, the previous keeper purchased the bike from Wells Motorcycles in 1974 and the receipt for this is contained within the history file. The bike was restored to a very good standard in 2010/2011 which is detailed with invoices, it has been serviced and MoT'd since the restoration, details of which are all included in the accompanying file. A UK V5 registration document is also present as are two sets of keys and a manual. Our vendor states that this Thunderbolt starts and rides very well with a new MoT test certificate. A stunning motorcycle offered without reserve.
Guide Price £3,500 - £6,500

1976 LANCIA BETA MONTECARLO SPIDER - HISTORICS AUCTIONEERS Saturday 21st September 2019 Mercedes Benz World Weybridge, Surrey

FEATURED AUCTION
HISTORICS AUCTIONEERS
Saturday 21st September 2019
Mercedes Benz World
Weybridge, Surrey

1976 LANCIA BETA MONTECARLO SPIDER
By: PININFARINA
Registration No: OBU 650P
Chassis No: 1931
Engine No: TBC
Estimate: £14,000 - £16,000

Lancia was founded in November 1906 in by Vincenzo Lancia and his friend Claudio Fogolin, both Fiat racing drivers. The first Lancia, the ‘Tipo 51’ or 12HP was constructed in 1907. Sadly, in 1937, Vincenzo died and his wife and son, Gianni Lancia, took over the firm. The innovativeness, constant quest for excellence, the fixation of quality and complication of the construction processes together with the antiquated machinery meant that all cars, essentially, had to be handmade. These models were mid-engined sports cars produced from 1975 through to 1982. Cars from 1975 to 1978 were known as Lancia Beta Montecarlo's and the latter cars, produced from 1979 to 1982, simply as Lancia Montecarlo. Both series were offered in coupĂ© and spider versions and designed by Pininfarina.
This lovely example is presented in white with blue cloth interior and was found by a friend of the owner in Italy. We are informed the car is very original apart from having a full repaint at some point. The previous owner had the car serviced and fitted with a new cambelt and had some work done on the brakes. Also, new Dunlop tyres were recently fitted. When the present owner brought the car back to the UK he had it thoroughly looked over by Lancia Montecarlo specialist, Darren Cooksey. All the brake callipers were stripped, cleaned and rebuilt, a tie rod bush was replaced, the steering rack was rebuilt and the wheel alignment took place. The coolant was replaced along with a new thermostat. The owner also had the throttle bush and linkage replaced along with all the gear linkage bushes which we understand were both common faults on this model. The roof straps and door trim were also replaced. The vendor states this Lancia drives superbly and is still exciting on country roads, particularly as one feels so close to the ground when in the cockpit.
