There were two distinct series of the Magnettes; the ZA and the ZB, produced from 1953 through to 1958. The ZA was launched in 1953 and was the first monocoque car to bear the MG badge. The Magnette featured modern Italian inspired styling with power derived from the then-new four-cylinder 1.5 litre engine delivering 60bhp driving the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. The ZA was replaced by the Magnette ZB in 1956 with power increased to 64bhp. The extra power increased the top speed to 86mph and reduced the 0-60mph time to 18.5 seconds, sharing an engine to the similar Wolseley 15/50.
This MG Magnette was originally supplied by Manor Circus Motors Ltd, in Richmond, Surrey on 2nd October 1957 at a cost of £1,086s-10-9d; the original bill of sale is included in the comprehensive history file. In recent years, the car has undergone a huge transformation to prepare it for track racing and hill climbs. The bodywork was extensively repaired over a seven-year period with new sills, floors, doors, and wing repair panels. A full roll-cage has been installed with extensions to the front bulkhead and chassis rails as well as inside the sill box sections making this an extremely strong and rigid bodyshell. The engine is based on an MGB 1800 five main-bearing crankshaft and has been tuned to Stage Six producing around 125bhp. The gearbox is from an MGB and has an overdrive unit. The suspension has heavy-duty springs with AVO adjustable shock absorbers; MGB hubs and disc brakes are fitted - a necessity to help slow this now rapid vehicle. A V5C registration document accompanies this MG together with an extensive history folder. Interested parties are advised to view the Magnette in person as the quality and list of works carried out is certainly impressive.

Vauxhall Cavaliers once pounded the motorways of Britain at a time when hazel brown metallic paint and a beige interior combined to be the height of fashion.
Few have survived intact, making MHA 612V a rare breed survivor that, if it had four legs, would be loved and cherished on Adam Henson’s Cotswold farm as an example of a beast that once powered the nation!
The next owner of this motor car will have a talking point wherever it’s taken, gathering a crowd of people who once drove them or were driven in them by their sales rep/middle manager Dad. The trim level determined their place in the company hierarchy so examples like this 2000 GLS would have been the chariot of at least a senior manager had it been in corporate ownership.
However, fewer than 68,000 miles recorded suggests that this car escaped the ravages of company hack with a rather more sedate existence. It was resprayed eight years ago, when new front wings and a front valance were fitted and it also benefits from replacement front springs, brake discs and pads, as well as a new exhaust and some work to the rear brakes. Otherwise, it remains original and ready to welcome a new driver into its velour heaven, where all the instruments and fittings appear to be functioning and the original radio has survived.
The Cavalier sits on its original steel wheels and is also supplied with some spares and an original sales brochure. It has a current V5C certificate will have an MoT test prior to the sale.

Here comes summer and your ticket to a taste of warmth thanks to this VW “Splitty” campervan, the Holy Grail among VeeDub enthusiasts.
The base vehicle, a 1966 German-built 11 window Transporter, was exported to the United States and repatriated to Europe when it arrived on UK shores in 2008. Shortly after, the vendors, both Naval officers, acquired the VeeDub which underwent a total restoration with marque specialists. The rebuilt twin port 1.6 litre engine is coupled to a reconditioned gearbox, while the suspension is sympathetically lowered with coil springs over shock absorbers.
The interior high standards match the exterior, a sheer delight to behold. The owner is highly skilled – having built his own house extension, he plans to go on a boatbuilding course on retirement so the Splitty is now ready to float someone else’s boat.
Its fridge runs on electricity or gas, while the interior also features good lighting, a three quarter fold-down bunk, and a Zig unit to monitor the 12 volt and 240 volt interior electrics. The gas cooker is mounted on one of the twin side doors in period style so can be used inside or out, depending on the weather, making it ideal for those surf trips to Newquay!
The exterior is finished in the VW factory colours of pearl white over velvet green and there’s a perfect colour match to the leather front and vinyl rear seat facings. The original roof has been retained rather than converted to a pop-top, making secure garage storage easier.
It’s very appealing, highly practical, and great value when in the last few years some of these VWs with quality, and not always original, conversions have been achieving well in excess of £50,000. The copious history file, accompanied by a current V5C certificate, clearly shows why this particular camper has such great appeal.
Guaranteed to turn heads wherever it goes, this VW will be welcomed at any classic car or campervan event.
