1967 JAGUAR 420 AUTO SALOON

Registration Number: KOD 119F
Chassis Number: PIF3831BW
Engine Number: A1781
Transmission: Automatic
Steering: Right Hand Drive
Mileage: 71000
Guide Price: £7500 - 9500
Road Tax Exempt

Lot No: 236
The 420, along with its badge-engineered sibling the Daimler Sovereign, was launched in 1966. It was an evolution of the S-Type and part of Jaguar’s ‘compact sporting saloons’, sharing the same floorplan as its predecessors. The quadruple headlamp nose was similar to the Mk X (rebranded as the 420G), but the 420 also benefitted from a cross-flow radiator, a dual-line hydraulic braking system, twin 2 inch SU carburettors, an alternator and limited slip differential units.
We are informed that this 1967 example was the subject of a respray in 2015. The original upholstery is described as fair and the headlining, that was replaced three years ago, remains in good condition. The mechanical aspect is described as being good and we understand the exhaust system to be stainless steel. The vendor purchased the motor car four years ago but a change in circumstances has prompted the sale. Now a rare model and worth preserving, this 420 is supplied with a number of invoices and the V5C registration certificate.

1979 AUSTIN MORRIS MINI PICK UP

Registration Number: LVL 981V

Chassis Number: XLU1-657085A
Engine Number: 403363
Transmission: Manual
Steering: Right Hand Drive
Guide Price: £9000 - 11000

Lot No: 235
Frugal yet nippy and with bags of character, the Mini has appealed to all manner of motorists since it arrived on Britain’s roads in 1957. Not long after the Saloon had established itself in our hearts, it was somewhat inevitable that derivations should follow and the Mini was offered as an estate, van and pick-up. The latter was produced in small numbers as at the time it lacked the popularity of the vans and consequently, is a very rare sight in the twenty-first century.
This example was purchased by the current custodian in 2012 as a hobby project; he set about carrying out a thorough restoration and when completed, the Mini was enjoyed for a year before ill health prevented its use.
It is described as being good but generally excellent and the vendor notes particularly that the paintwork is superb and the original interior is very smart, unusually retaining its rare and original rubber mats. The black vinyl cover over the pick-up body is in good order and mechanically, there are no known faults; indeed, the Mini is ready to be enjoyed at marque events or would be ideal as an unusual advertising platform for a small business. The V5C registration certificate is included in the sale.

1949 VELOCETTE LE Mk I

Registration Number: XVV 930

Frame Number: 1509
Engine Number: 200/16438
Guide Price: £1400 - 1900
Road Tax Exempt

Entirely unconventional but aimed at the everyman who perhaps had never ridden a motorcycle before, Velocette’s LE certainly stood out from its contemporaries when it arrived in 1948. It’s box frame and voluminous mudguard design was striking but it was the technology that is worth noting: the telescopic forks and an adjustable suspension were certainly innovative for the late Forties, and the ‘conceived as a whole’ engine, gearbox, drive shaft and bevel box were a single unit.
From a small private Devonshire collection, this LE Mk I was the subject of a photographic restoration which, we understand, included the engine and braking system. It remains in very smart condition and after a period of storage, we are told starts and runs well. We should point out that the windscreen does not include the upper Perspex section, but apart from that, the Velocette represents very good value for money.
The file includes a parts list (plus an additional copy), copy pages of the handbook, sundry invoices, the aforementioned photographs of the restoration and the V5C registration certificate.

1955 FORD THAMES 300E VAN

Registration Number: HAS 212

Chassis Number: 100E 203212
Engine Number: 100E 203212
Steering: Right Hand Drive
Guide Price: £6000 - 8000
Road Tax Exempt

One of the great little workhorses of the fifties and sixties, the 300E van proved reliable and thoroughly competent in a multitude of commercial enterprises. It was created from the Ford Anglia and Prefect 100E saloons, with a body shell, replicated from the Ford Squire estate.
This now rare early Thames 300E was the subject of an older restoration and often shown around the West Country by its proud builder owner, who has now sadly passed on. It is finished in dark green with good and straight panel work (the paint colour would certainly alert us to any defects!). The grey interior has survived well, considering that it is a commercial vehicle and we are told that the mechanical aspect has no known faults; indeed the Thames van is apparently a pleasure to drive.
Supplied with Ford is the V5C registration certificate, the original instruction book and several old road tax discs. A more attractive and usable little van will be hard to find
